Had an IT Pro email with details of a VIC-20 re release in October this year. It actually looks like it could be quite good but time will tell.
I actually still have my VIC-20 stashed away as it was the first computer I owned and cost me half a seasons wages for making donuts

Anyway here is the Amazon pre-order link:

Also found this link from the company that is making it:

If it was just the Vic 20, I'd agree. But it looks like this is a limited edition of 'The 64'. So it should play all C64 and all VIC software via a USB stick, with virtually zero lag on an LCD.

I've gone for this. The Vic 20 was my first computer and the only one I've since sold (a long time ago, to fund a Master System!), so this seems like a nice way to get it back without having to rely on my old cassette tapes

The C64 has got pretty decent reviews, and this is more or less a replica rather than a mini console.

'The C64' is a great piece of retro kit. If I didn't have one already, I'd deffo be getting hold of the Vic 20 edition. It'll also play c64 games...

Glad to hear it. I never had a C64 but it's a nice bonus since the games are probably better.

I still have the copy of Psychedelia Jeff Minter's mum kindly gave to us.

There are a few games I remember playing but can't recall the names, though. One was a Defender clone that felt really nice to play, and another was a football manager type game, but you couldn't save so you had to play the whole season in on sitting

OK but I think I'd rather get a proper Vic and a flashcart (assuming they do one). Never had one myself but my mate did, some of the first video games I ever played.

I paid £349 for my first Vic-20 with Cassette deck

So in real terms it's actually quite cheap

One of my early favorites was Jelly Monsters. I had a 16K ram expansion cart that I modified and added a R/W switch to so I could soft load the carts.

I also had the Machine Language Monitor cartridge which along with the reference guide was how I taught myself 6502. Those were the days.

From the specs, besides emulating the C64 it also has a Game Carousel mode which will allow you to load your own games without having to "jailbreak" it.
