Very nice indeed - I was tempted to built a mini one for
myself with a foldable backglass - what size screens did you use for
the playfield and backglass?

24" and 19" screens.

I can understand with these you get to play all the tables in one machine but nothing beats the real thing.
Surely playing a virtual pin is no different from playing it on an iPad but just it takes up loads of room.
Spend the money on a cheap title original table.

Just my opinion.

Very blinkered attitude, I too would like the 200 pinball tables I had on that cab, also the money and a barn to house them all in.....

And if you think a digital pin is the same an an iPad, well you are clearly as wrong as some of the values you put on things you want to sell!

To be fair I sold my virtual pin because I got fedup of the physics not feeling right, or even making sense... Yes you can't beat the real thing, but it made a great fun project to build which is what its all about... I enjoyed playing with the head tracking in Future Pinball with the Microsoft Kinect - very cool how that works, but it turned out a bit like 3D TV - a bit of a cool gimmick that just gets annoying after a while. Happy to stick with my real Back to the Future pin! As for space - just do what I did - make one for yours Dads birthday, then go play it round their house - lol :)

I built one up from a shell put together by someone else to a Williams Widebody spec, had great fun putting it all together, mine had 10 24v relays for feedback, a virtual plunger, LED bar, strobes, 2 sound amps and a gyro for virtual nudge
smiley1.gif
The biggest pain was the software, the guys over at vpforums.org were very helpful though, most resources you need are available through their site.

Here was mine pretty much finished: https://youtu.be/9XibgrSZZII - sadly now long gone to a new owner

That is awesome!

Out of interest, how much would something like that cost? i.e. how much did you sell it for?

I sold for £1500 which included me delivering to Manchester and setting it up for the new owner, it probably cost around £1000 to build plus about 6 months of my time!

I think it played really well, the feedback really helps so I'd say relays are a must, it feels a bit flat without them, you can even fit a switch to turn them off for nighttime play

That looks a great project you completed there, nice one.

I'm currently toying with the idea of a virtual pin as a winter project.
Were you running VP9 or VP 10 on your table? and with what processor and graphic's card?
I'm thinking, maybe an I5 and a Gforce 1060 I believe the software is power hungry.

I was running a mix of VP9 and VP10 tables, VP10 had not long been released so there weren't many available, it's worth spending time checking the quality of the tables, there are multiple versions of most of them and the quality varies wildly.

The spec of the PC was a 3rd gen i5, 240GB SSD, 8GB of RAM and a GTX 750 SC which ran all 3 screens fine at 1080p.

Well worth £1500 of anybody's money, I reckon. Amazing work.

Thank you so much, how long did it take for you to do that (working hours)

It took about 6 months altogether, I did a lot of research and made a few mistakes along the way, hence putting fuses on everything! I didn't keep a track of how many hours I spent I'm afraid, probably a few hundred at a guess? It started off a just putting some screens into a pinball cabinet but ended up with all the toys once I saw what other people were doing
smiley36.gif

If I had planned everything I was going to put in it from the start it would have taken a lot less time, I did a lot of rewiring when adding new bits ...

This is my effort; now, let me think... this, or an iPad? Hmm.

Those machines are amazing. Hats off to you guys that have actually built one (or 2!!)

One day....hopefully.

One of the mods (I think he was a mod) on J+ sold one a couple of years ago. Think it went for around £4k. It was awesome.

Future Pinball

I singled out why the physics probably felt crap, the original coder got his knickers in a twist at some point I think, and then everyone had to hack things into it, and even with patched physics it was never as good as VP.

Does anyone have something like a parts list where everything you need for at least one vpin is listed?

That depends on how far you want to take your build, I was happier with a more basic feature set, certainly didn't care for camera tracking also whether you build your own base or pick up an empty one from a dead pin.

https://www.pinball.co.uk/ & https://www.vpforums.org/ will probably be good places to start.
