I pay £66 a month for water and thought that was a bit steep. Lol. I've never been approached to have a meter fitted, oddly. Maybe because I live in a 17th century cottage with nightmare plumbing. Haha.

Don't get me started on electricity companies. I reported one to the ombudsman once and won, but things still didn't get sorted. Ombudsman=toothless lion. The stress made me ill, but they don't give a shit.

My house is best part of 100 years old with lead pipes and had terrible water pressure, ( before I fitted a pressurised tank ) funny how they aren't interested in sorting that for me
It took me 3.5 years to get Welsh Water to sort out my water pressure. I was told over and over again that the problem was on my side of the main, on my land, so I'd have to sort it out. So I got myself a shovel and dug a sodding great hole right down to where the incoming water main meets the meter. Everything their side of the meter is their responsibility, everything my side is my responsibility. I then tapped directly off the meter and took flow and pressure measurements. And called Welsh Water out again - who then had to accept it was their issue. It took them about an hour and a half to sort it out.

The boots on the ground guys from the water company are nice enough, but hands firmly tied by management. They've been gradually reducing water pressure for years now, as the infrastructure is seriously creaking and the lower the pressure the fewer problems they have. And that's a widespread issue - so they are loathe to admit any problem is ever on their side as that might lead to them having to increase pressure. I'm annoyed about the 3.5 year wait, and also the stress of having to arse about with the water main, knowing that if I cocked things up I'd have a house with no water and a very cross mrs to deal with ....

Any idea what the app was called? My daughter has suggested one but it was considerably more expensive and looked a bit "scammy" to me
I’ve just asked my son. The app he used was called “Testi Driving Cancellations UK”. It’s free to download, but he paid £12 for the premium access (not £5 as I first thought). You have to be quick when the cancellation notifications come through as they get taken pretty quick.

these apps are used by people buying up spaces and selling them at a profit

No neither am I to be honest.

Shame the DLVA don’t have a fair system in place to give everyone a fighting chance to get cancellations. It is ridiculous that people are having to wait 8 months just to get a test appointment.

As I was paying for my son’s lessons it was costing me a fortune just to keep his place with the driving school with the “top up” lessons in between each time he was taking the tests. One of the tests actually had to be abandoned on the day due to a technical issue with the instructor’s car which basically set the retest date back another 4-5 weeks, thus costing me a few hundred more in top-up/practice lessons.

Thought I was in trouble when my outside stop tap started to leak as it was on my side of the fence so down to me , benefit to having a Father who was a plumber and knew a lot of the blokes on with Thames water as it magically found it way to the other side of the fence on the report and was replaced free of charge.

I thought about digging up the old lead pipe and replacing it but instead I fitted a big water tank with what can only be described as an industrial "swimming pool" pump inside it so when you turn on a tap the pump kicks in and you get 4 bar pressure throughout the house, tank fills back up at a piss trickle rate from the mains.

I don't think these apps are buying spaces and selling at a profit as there isn't an extra charge for the test just the cost of the app.

At least that's what my daughter said (she's just signed up for one)

I'm not fussed about the water bill. It's the £300 a month in having to pay for my daughter's driving lessons that's pissing me off 😭 which is compounded by the fact it takes fucking ages to get a test!
Yes that is my next moan as i need to sort my daughters lessons which are extorniate in bristol amd bath, and most dont seem to want to come many villages out, so you get stuck in price hikes

On the heating front we have oil and apart from a few short lived blips here and there on prices it's been pretty stable. 44p a litre when we moved in in 2010 and the last delivery we had was just over 50p a litre. Really glad I didn't "upgrade" to air/ground source when I put a new boiler in a couple of years ago! I currently use about 2000 liters a year so about £11-1200 a year. Lockdown was great, they could barely give the stuff away 😁
There are some nice houses that come up near me for sale but i just worry about oil heating prices, so tends to put me off. I think someone said you can get a lot better radiators now to heat house bettet. How many rooms in your house is it a 4 bed

If it helps, I’m on oil too for heating and hot water. 3/4 bedroom, 2 bathroom bungalow. Log burner too which gets used most days during winter. My annual oil bill is circa £600.

I am s
is that without a meter?
Yes i dont have a meter and just feel they are pushing the non meter price up so much to blackmail people to get meters. I would be interested to see what people with 4 bed houses pay on a meter. They cant moan about state of sewers when they used the company profits to pay shareholders, not repair them. I however remember the times when it was not unusual with dial up and phone calls to pay 100 pound bt phone bills. My dad peed me of moaning so much i just agreed to pay them myself. I was making so much money with atari st software and pirate videos, anyway. Those were the days. Micro mart was my ebay ! I tried to explain computer club to my girls. Well i was about 14 and wed gobto these clubs with all these old men.... hmmmmm

Yes it's 4 bed / 2 bathroom. Plus I don't like being cold 😁. The overwhelming majority of use is October to April, doesn't use much at all just running hot water over the summer months. I really wouldn't let oil put you off. I like the fact that it reacts quickly to "market" prices meaning you can buy when it's cheaper (providing you have room in the tank! I think the cheapest I've paid is 19p a litre in lockdown and the most was around £1 both were very short lived, I'd say the average has been somewhere between 50- 60p since I've been here.

Scum bags mate BG. Id rather freeze then use them. When my eldest daughter passed away, they tried to make me responsible for her debt to them, a huge £200!!. When i said that im not responsible and id been to a solicitor about it, they acknowledged it but kept on saying i had to pay. They then sent her another bill knowing she had died but put another 120 onto the bill. I rang up yet again and had the same conversation the last few times. I then got a letter saying i had to pay or they would get their Enforcement Team out to it. It was then that i got onto the Ombudsman about it. They didnt do a lot, made me jump through hoops but eventually i stopped getting threatning letters.
Out of all the companys i had to deal with only BG were C***s. Never Again will i use these people.

Mate I totally sympathise with you because it was same for us ..
And we handed over £ more
Times than we should
Have. And it was all jumbled up amounts that was like they jist pulled numbers outta the air like Penny’s from heaven which is what it is for them ..
I know the law is this : if you didn’t live in the house then you are not a consumer of the energy Só they cannot leagaly hold you responsible to pay.

Makes me think about talking to the ombudsman now . Cause I’m getting stired up again ..
My
Mum did contact energy watch dog .. thet didnt give a fig, not interested ..
Actually seems they was protecting BG.

Like the water CO ..,
The enviromemtal officers have second jobs lobbying for the water Co. People that should be watching out for all our enviromemt have been paid off to LIE!
A bunch of rotten bannanas fit for fire only.

I hope that one day in the not
To distant future a Gov will come in this country that holds these rotten apples to account.

Then starts the process of returning our great a beautiful land back together again.

Thames water fines for dumping shit in river that runs through my
Town Marlow bucks
Was I Tiny fraction of the cost it takes to treat it …

They call that profit!

I want to add a new word to the English dictionary.

Industrial environmental disaster

Id certainly go to the Ombudsman, they will never stop mate. It took me just over 6 months to get them off my back. Was trying to grieve for her and all i could do was been angry at this company, if you can call them that of course. Give them a call ASAP mate.
