I know its a strange question (& way ot) but what sort of amount would be classed as a nice donation to make? I have no ideas on costs etc involved with running sites, I'm getting rid of some unwanted stuff (non arcade of course) on the bay of dreams atm so may hopefully have some spare paypal funds kicking about in a few days time

Hey dude,

Honestly it's not a requirement, the money goes into developing the site more and also helping sort out UKVAC goodies at Arcade events.

The entire Site Supporter system is calculated on a weekly unit basis. So You could donate £1 and get automatically put into the system.

I believe we set a weekly unit at 20p or so - making a year about £10. As you donate or top up the system knows who you are, welcomes you back and will tell you your new expiry date too. It's pretty cool

How do I go about making a weekly donation then set up automatically? I clicked the support us link but unless I'm missing something it seems to want me to make a one off donation, I must be either doing something wrong or have missed something.

IndyJones, you do one off payments, and it divides it into weekly units automatically. Then just top it up as and when if you wanted to.

You can't AFAIK just now mate, I just bunged a donation in(think it was £15) and got my stars

I see, thats something new for the future, or I've totally misunderstood things

As soon as I get some funds through from the auctions I'll just do a donation the normal way, cheers for that.

A good donation would be around £5 a month I should think. From the effort involved if everyone paid that it would make things alot easier for the people doing the work.

People are as welcome to donate anything or nothing though guys. Being a VACcer is a state of mind; if you're one of us, you're one of us

What an interesting thread this has been... it is great to see that bugs and security issues are actively getting fixed by the Admin and Dev teams but who knew that as a casual member you are able to hack a forum and then buy your way out of being banned.

The world just gets more curious by the day...

There's no need for that.

BM has been advised that notifying us of a loophole should have been the correct course rather than just sitting back and waiting for the fireworks.

Future instances will certainly not be so leniently dealt with!

We've only ever banned one person in the forums history and the prospect of doubling that doesn't appeal! We prefer to try and work as a community here

Was that really necessary Rav?

Can I make a suggestion, in that you add a line to the terms of you registering to say that if you attempt to hack the forum then there is a possibility that your account will be removed??

This is not a specific dig at BM, just a rule that should be applicable to all users, because of the possible consequences??

As was said - we welcome positive 'penetration testing' and/or notification of any loopholes in custom development.

We'll have a chat about it and write something up guys

So is it acceptable or not... or is it only the accepted if you donate money to the forum...?
