I've been tinkering with this stuff for a while now and the wife has grudgingly started to accept this. So time to get some people round.

Anyone up for a weekend meet towards the end of March. I'm just outside Walsall. I don't have much test kit but I do have a ton of manky boards and a bit of space.

Anyone up for it??

Definitely, and I reckon I've got enough kit to bring over to keep everybody entertained

If any attendees fancy locating some faulty board (with schematics!) prior to the meet, then open a Tech thread about it and we can a) hopefully fix it during the meet and b) live post updates to the forum

I'm not much good with the tech side of things, but I'd like to meet up with you guys. Shame I haven't got any of those spare Asty boards that we could have played around with

You may have to drive through to get to me but as long as you keep your windows wound up and the doors locked you should be fine - this is in no way to be taken as a guarantee

I'd maybe be up for it if the timing was right. I'd need a nice hotel to check into though - the last time I was heading up to Cyclo's me and the Mrs stopped at a place in Walsall on the Friday night only to find out the place was a knocking shop

Ho hum!

Obviously meals and beers and things are probably higher on my agenda than fixing stuff, but with the right tempting I can sometimes be persuaded to get behind some test kit

Knocking shop where on earth was that? Not that I'm interested in that sort of thing you understand.....

Theres a few decent hotels in town such as The County, Holiday Village and not far up the road Barons Court. But I don't think they offered the level of personal service available elsewhere

Oh crap! If Martin is attending the tech meet then I probably ought to learn some of this stuff I've been bullsh*tting about for the past few years. Way easier to sound knowledgeable when I have google next to me than when I'm at someone's house with people around

Also might be an idea to identify an outdoor smoking area for the unhealthy ones amongst us *cough*Andy & me*cough* so you can start building a nice bus shelter (or nick one) so we don't get pneumonia whilst we're out getting a breath of fresh air

. Probably want to pick somewhere upwind too so there's no passive nico-rushes!

I am sorting with the mother-in-law to take the kids for a night. So I'll confirm the dates in the next few days - it'll be either the last weekend of March of the week before.

I have checked with the mother-in-law and agreed the last weekend of March (Sat is 26/3). I will get the vertical jamma out of the garage so that we have an vertical and horizontal jamma to test things on. Of course I'll have the Alca Planet out and running (fingers crossed).

As suggested by Tim if we start tech posts for anything we're looking to work on we will at least have a head start.

As food goes I'll have some bits and pieces on hand but if anyone fancies going for a curry theres a nice little place in the village. If anyone doesn't like curry there always a pub meal. Either way I'll need to know interest in advance as we'll have to book.

Plus if anyone has any test kit they want to sell on bring it with you cause I'll buy anything after a few pints.

Okies - just got one more enquiry to make (cat sitter!) and I should be all confirmed up for this.

Plan would be to come up Friday night. Probably have lots to drink and emerge at some point Saturday morning? This assumes a nearby place to stay.

Can you supply some address details so I can start to look for suitable places? PM me if you're not keen on putting the details here.
