I think this is a good question as on this forum there is a community of people of variable ages and from all walks of life.

The first game I can remember playing at location would be Mumbles Pier Arcade in the very early 90's ( maybe very late 80's), I was really into pins right then but I can defiantly remember playing Gauntlet and I think on the same day playing Smash TV with my sister. That for me was my first experience of an arcade ( beyond Pins and 2p machines that is ) and is a very fond memory.

Really tough to remember for me, as you get older you seem to have conflicting memories, the first ever arcade will probably be a small town arcade at a place called Thorne near Doncaster, I used to go there with my Dad to his market stall & vanish with my pocket money for an hour or two, I suppose I must have been about 8 or 9, games that I most remember playing were Scramble, Frogger, Crazy Kong, Carnival, Hunchback over the year or so I went there.

I remember Defender being there as well, I can see in my mind now when an older lad, probably about 18ish completed a level & did that thing where you move the ship left & right blasting his lazers quickly, as if to say, yes I am the man, you young 'uns aren't worthy as a small crowd had gathered to watch

I've popped back a few times over the years to the town, the arcade closed decades ago of course but I thought I'll just go back have a closer look earlier this year at the actual bulding, it was smaller than I remember & now a beauty bar & no chance of anything being dumped in a back room sadly.

I also remember a small cafe I'd go in for a game on Pacman as well in the same era, I've also started some research into that cab & somebody who used to work there fairly recently reckons there is an old arcade machine in an outbuilding at the back, possibly the pacman, unconfirmed yet but I am going to investigate further, imagine owning a cab that you used to play on 30odd years ago

My conflicting memories refer to if I visited the Thorne arcade first or if I had already started going into arcades during seaside trips, I cannot remember exactly what started my arcade career for me but I think it was the town arcade though iirc & seaside arcades after came after.

First arcade machine I played was guerilla war in the red lion pub in St. Oysths in '89.

I lived there a couple of years and went to school in Clacton. Obviously spent all my time down the muzzies (arcades).

The first arcade game I remember playing is Space Gun, early 90's, at a local shopping center. I was ~ 10. Also remember playing Splatterhouse at about the same age, at an amusement park. From before that I really only remember playing the nes at a friends house.
