2 cool looking machines for sure, I remember when there was a Time Traveler cab on ebay years ago, if only space was unlimited

Did you see that one on ebay 1/2 size some guy made, looks okay at distance, would love to see how good it compares to original for holographic effect

With Computer Space, how many that are owned actually get played? probably not many
Yeah, I saw that mini TT on ebay. I'm tempted to go down the scratch build route one day. As much as I want an original, I couldn't justify the price they sell for.

Is there a Cool Cab you would buy for the Design or Looks alone even if you didn't really play the game?

I'd buy it and play it which is cheating, but it'd be warlords for me, the illusion of depth in that cab is brilliantly done.

For buy and not play, feel like I'm jumping on the bandwagon but it'd have to be Tron or Discs of Tron, never gotten on with either of them, but the artwork, controls, blacklights... love it 🤷‍♂️

Never seen it, love the games using half mirrors though, that's really cool

Didn't take enough notice when I originally played Op Wolf in arcade but when I bought the cab and you realise monitor is facing up and has standard mirror so it looks really cool as it seems cab is twice as deep

I would happily own old machines like this with Mirrors, Boot Hill is another one that is quite cool to play on original cab when the float up to the graveyard

I'm also cheating a bit, but around 1999 a Merkur Spielothek casino arcade opened up in the centre of Bristol. This place was fantastic, it had (what seemed like) brand new cabinets, and had the best selection of games I could have wished for. It was also quite German, everything was very clean, well lit and organised. It looked more like a up market retail outlet.

No pictures exist of the arcade as it was then, I remember the dark day when all the cabs were removed and the place was filled with video poker etc. It remained a Casino slots place until 2017 as pictured here (you can still see the Merkur logo on the door mat, which is the only thing that survived) It's now a Hot Yoga place :(

Anyway one of these cabs was Konami's Racing Jam deluxe, with had a 70" curved rear projection screen mounted right up front which would be amazing now, but in 1999 it was mind blowing. it also had a really nice metal gear stick, force feedback etc - the works. The owners even placed it in a shrouded area so the reflection wouldn't affect the screen - such a great cab.

I'd only played the cocktail version, but saw the upright in AC Bury a few weeks ago, wasn't sure whether I'd previously missed it or it was a new edition, it's awesome though.

I've never thought much to most Konami Driving games but I've never played any in original cabs apart from GTI Club which was quite fun with handbrakes. would be nice to have a go in the WEC Le Mans Big Spin one to fully experience the game, I used to see the Bathtub type ones on ebay quite a bit but just put off by the looks off it, probably should of bought one just to see what it was like to play

Funny you say that Merker turned into Hot Yoga as I passed old Bank at the weekend and it's now a Merker Slots place

Didn't know they did Super Deluxe of Racing Jam though, that looks pretty awesome

looking at the game, upright was B/W and 2 player with Mirror for effects and Table was colour and 4 player but without the 3D look

This is what you miss out on if you don't see the original cabs as there are a few surprises with old machines

Thats a good video, I think it's the exact same cab as the picture I posted.

Not sure what Merkur were doing at the time, but the Bristol arcade just wasnt popular enough I guess. It was perfection for my friends and I - like we had found a secret arcade or something. Within a year they pulled everything that didn't make enough money and that was that. It was back to the Golden Nugget or Mad Harry's which were full of knackered old cabs and fag smoke (even though I smoked at the time) :)

Terminator 2: Judgement Day
Bought it ages ago and had the monitor fixed but it's got a gun problem which I've not been able to fix.
It looks great in the games room though so I'll have Arnie's disapproving face looking at me until I'm able to pull it out again and investigate further.

Never had a go on original machine and only played on mame with mouse so difficult to rate the game itself but with the movie being amazing when released it sure makes you want the machine sat in your house or games room with the cool arnie artwork on the sides, it's good looking cab for sure

A pic from 4 years ago during covid when the garage / games room conversion was being done.
Fantastic looking but both uzis only shoot the top left of the screen... Mr Schwarzenegger would not be happy

I appreciate this isn’t a popular opinion on this particular forum, but I’m not a massive fan of dedicated cabs.

I love the look of the MVS U4 with the chrome/steel CP surround, and I’d love to have an SNK Candy 25 (the variant with the blue and pink branding and chrome CP surround) to pair with it.

I’m hoping to get some serious dirt on @o1s1n , so I can blackmail him out of his!!

If it was going to be a dedicated ‘classic’ cab, it’d be pretty cool to have a minty Donkey Kong in the living room or hallway as a piece of furniture…

Plotting to steal my cabinets on different forums are you? :D

Just realised I created this account in 2013 but have never actually posted here, howdy all! - as for the subject of the OP, I've always wanted either a Sega Aero Table or an SNK Candy Table 26 for the aesthetics but am 100% sure I would never play and it would end up being used for stacking washing.

LOL, yes! I’m overtly and unambiguously looking to pinch your cab any way that I can!!

Yes the Nintendo cabs have great Artwork and Donkey Kong would look cool as an art piece, it wouldn't get played if I owned one as I'm hopeless at it and it stresses me out
