Manual is here:
http://arcarc.xmission.com/PDF_Arcade_Manuals_and_Schematics/Pengo_Owners_Manual_(420-0811).pdf

Page 39/40 talks about the volume assembly and points a note at pin 1 where the resistor is but doesn't give its value.

My guess is that 10k was not the intended value of the pot and they've added to it via a series resistor.

Normally I'd say it depends on the amp but it wouldn't be uncommon for that resistor to be 2-5k

Is it missing or destroyed?

I have studied that manual inside and out and it doesn't mention it at all

same with Gyruss Manual (no mention of value of POTS)

I need the value as I only have a PCB and need to know so I can hook up a pot to it

so far I understand that the resistor goes to the shield of the cable and its then goes to ground and don't want to risk using a pot without the resistor

I seen a seller in USA that has a complete loom a and the resistor is present but the picture is too vivid to make out the value

If it's anything like my Frogger cab the pot is just wired direct to the pcb and was a 10k linear.

Try the Head On manual - I took one apart but can't access the parts right now it might be in that manual

cool I will try the headon manual

PENGO was made by sega gremlin so should be on the right lines

as for frogger that's ambiguous as well

the manual mentions a 10K pot and then a few pages later mentions a 200 ohm pot

its confusing

but for frogger I will find out soon as I brought a original cab
