Solved Wired up Arctronics filter backwards, tripped mains, dead Naomi cab

Yes, I am stupid. I put the panel holding the Arctronics filter into the cab upside-down and thus wired up the three connectors from the mains input backwards. Turned on the power and tripped the household electrics - no noise or nasty smells/sparks from the cab, mind - and now the cab does nothing when turned on. I'm in the process of putting it back together so haven't connected anything beyond the stepdown, the Sun PSU, the JAMMA harness and the top light.

What's the best way to diagnose this? I noticed there's a fuse on the connection board next to the stepdown but it's soldered in place. Worth removing it?

Is it one of those PSU‘s that shut down for a while if it detects a short?
I would leave it off for an hour then try powering it up again.

I've tried that but nothing yet. Thing is I'm not even precisely sure what should be coming on if there's no PCB/chassis/tube connected. I figured the PSU and marquee light would at least give some impression it was working and wired up correctly. I'm also pretty sure the rocker switch should light up if there's power, which it isn't.

I'm wondering if I've fried the EMI filter. Any tips for checking?

Without stating the obvious, I assume you’ve checked the fuse in the mains lead plug?

Have you got a multimeter to check if you are getting voltage to at least the filter?

First thing I tried. Going to check the voltage coming in now.

EDIT: Think I've tracked it down. There was no AC coming into the cab at all. Didn't realise there was a fuse in the little socket on the back, which upon testing is indeed blown. Now to find the right fuse.

Replaced the fuse and now all is back to normal. Case CLOSED.

Glad you got it sorted
It’s easy to forgot that sometimes there’s those little glass fuses in the black inlet socket housing.

Another case of “It probably only needs a new fuse”

I've had such a run of bad luck with tubes and chassis in this cab that I'm properly relieved I don't have to add 'mysterious power apocalypse' to the mix.
