OK, my son has bought this on eBay, thinking it was a code to get the game.

The seller is saying he will send 'log-in' details so my son can download the game.

I've asked if my son can play the game on his own account/gamertag, and he says yes.

These are the 'instructions';

1. Switch console on and go to main screen
2. Go to left top corner (section with your gamer picture)
3. Click ''add new'' this email
And password
4. Use details you receive to log into the new profile
5. Follow instructions on the screen
6. When logged in on the new account go to ''my games and apps'' section
7. On right side of the screen choose game and install it
8. When the games fully installed go to ''settings'' on the account I gave you

9. Go to personalization and select home xbox, then select “this is my home xbox if it is not already set. Then sign out and back on to your own account.

This isn't legit, is it?

Nope, it's a scam ~ report it. M$ gives the option for you to share your games on a friends console, what the seller will do is wait for the ebay feedback thing to end. Then just take back the digital download (as it's always tied to their gamertag and not yours).

There are various threads warning about it and variations of it;
