Dave's Battles PCB query made me dig out my Namco Xevious board and have a look at it (It has a RAM 7 fault).
Upon checking, I discovered that ROMs 1 to 6 had dodgy looking labels with the Atari game number (136018) on them. All other ROMs have Namco labels.

Two of the four main program ROMs (XV3-1 & XV3-3) match the corresponding ROMs in the xeviousc ROMset, the others do not match anything in MAME at present.
Also, MAME has XV3 ROMs as belonging to Super Xevious but they do not match those either.
My question(s), finally...
Where did these ROM images come from and why are they labelled thus?
I have renamed the ROMs as per the xevious ROMset and it runs in MAME as Xevious (not Super) but with the Atari logo and copyright.
The game seems harder even on easy...
