Hey all, I just bought an astro city candy cab and mame ready pc off the
forum here and the monitor won't come on. I've tried it with a
different pc on a second candy cab I bought thats working fine and still
nothing.

I'm not technical at all and have never owned any kind
of jamma cab before so I'm clueless on what it could be. Is there
anyone in the northwest UK area who could come down and find out whats
up/get it working etc? I could pay them for their time if need be. Cheers!

Does it work with a ordinary JAMMA pcb? Isn't an Astro monitor 15/24 only? Make sure the MAME pc is outputting a resolution it can support.

I cant get the back panel off. One of the screws has somethings in the centre of it so cant get a screwdriver in it. How do I deal with that?

hacksaw and cut a slot into the screw

or a dremel to cu tthe slot

then use a slotted screwdriver

But saying that before you do anything plug a JAMMA pcb into it and confirm what your MAME pc is outputting.

Your other cab you bought supports 15/24/31 so that might be why it works on the egret3

It could well be that it's outputting in 31k, and your other cab can handle that. The Astro is 15/24 only. Feeding it a 31k signal wouldn't be good.

Edit: As alpha says

this is what I bought: http://www.jammaplus.co.uk/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=67649&title=astro-city-mameready-pc

Just to be clear, your original post said you bought it from 'here'; but Jammaplus is a completely different forum run by different admins

I don't think it will make any difference to whether or not people on UKVAC will help you of course; we're a friendly bunch

just to confirm, the monitor won't come on rather than it comes on but nothing shows on the screen, correct? my guess is either a fuse or a loose cable?

i'm not familiar with the insides of an astro city, but the power supply that you show in the video, that just powers the PC, right? where is the power cable & PSU that powers the cab? the PC doesn't draw power from the cab's PSU does it?

At 1.30 in your video, the white cable at the back that comes down and then to the right, where does that go? That looks to be the power cable to the monitor. Maybe it's come unplugged at the other end?
