Attract sound on or off?

Ok, so I was wondering whether people have the attract sound on their machines on or off?

I know with alot of machines it can be a little annoying but I don't think it creates the same environment if all the machines are silent.

Even though I spend time in the gamesroom doing more than playing arcade machines (retro consoles, listening to podcasts etc) today I set all my machines to play attract sounds.

Same here have them all on and just adjust sound if its too much

I tend to have them on, gives it more of a bitd arcade feel imo.

I think I'd have them OFF if I had an arcade, simply as many games have great music, but you can often barely hear it above other games when they're booming out attract sounds.

Lol. Now you come to mention it, I can remember emerging from arcades bitd with my ears ringing. All part of the experience!

It depends on the game, games like simpsons that start screaming every so often attract goes off.

Having attract mode on is a real throwback to arcades, very cool.

As mentioned some of them are terrible though. Was watching a tnt video recently and he said that space ace was dreadful. Had a look at a video and yeah, could imagine that grating really quickly!

So it's 80% yes for me

On for me but.. I know this is one that will rage on and on. I know a certain someone that enforces a silent attractmodes rule, and all my PCBs come back home with demo sounds disabled!

Disagree on the PP attract. An arcade isn't an arcade without "Bup bup bup bahhhh" every minute or so

I always have mine turned off, as they distract me from the game I'm playing.

For me one of the worst is the metal slug games with the screams/groans of the bad guys being shot

Its a question thats been asked before

You need them on but some do get annoying, ninja warriors is ok but you get fed up of the tank after a bit

Then some make you jump if you forget its on

Had the attract for Final Fight running once, it's quiet until the Phone rings in Haggar's office. My late Dad was near the machine when this happened and nearly jumped out of his skin

I tend to leave them on, although Metal Slug does my head in, it seems to be about 30 decibels louder than any of the other Neo Geo games, and all you can hear are shots and screaming before it cries out METAL SLUG!!
