I think magic erasers would have taken care of removing the rusty stuff on the artwork too ?

Really great results, looks nice and fresh and very little (if any) discoloring. Do you know what the Serial nr. is ?

And at Alpha 1's request photo of front. Still got a little more cleaning to do before I am happy but it is already miles better. Then obviously match all the paint and touch in all the scratches graffiti etc.

Tried them, no good, was too thick and stained, used alloy wheel cleaner of all things!!! Worked really well.

Wow ! That also says the vinyl and paints used were of darn good quality....

Go easy on the scratch removal.....a bit of gravity ads character ;)

Really you think?

This is what it looks like currently

Have just mixed the yellow up for the border pipework as it was all worn away.

Had intended to restore the artwork to original so no scratches. Perhaps some feedback here also then guys please.

Ordinarily I prefer to leave the odd ding as I prefer a cab with character to one where all it's history has been sanded and resprayes away to make it look brand new again. BUT...

Galaxian is one cab I do think looks lovely nice and mint. I think due to it's simplicity. I don't think that graffiti looks good. I just see that and think some scrotes needed their fingers chopping off

Another thing to consider here is how well you think you can pull it off. Matching and touching in that artwork is going to be no small feat. If you think you can manage it then fair play to you.

So there we are. A completely contradicting pair of views from a single person. Think you may need some further input on this one

Wow you are doing a good job!

Rather than restoring the monitor shield - have you thought about sourcing a nice minty original non-rusted one from the USA?

Will look into that but would have thought shipping to be too expensive, is a great idea, unfortunately I have this default setting of must repair and renovate, I don't like replacing parts if I don't have to its the Yiddish in me.

The original is a brown shiny colour - I swear it has something on the metal. Just wondering if 'original' in this instance is getting a nice one.

I might even have a nice one spare - i'll look at the weekend.

Here are some more renovation pics from yesterday and today.

Masked the cab up to repaint the inside and around monitor. removed monitor bracket for stripping an re painting as it was well corroded.

All metal work stipped bare, then etch primed, filler primed and finished in satin black.

Bracket fitted back in.

Door was stripped as explained earlier then Wurth stone chipped and then a grey metalic finish, which is close to the original colour.

Don't think I will be finishing this sadly, as I have run into some difficulties and will have to sell my complete collection of cabs and classic cars, spanning some 12 and 20 years respectively!!

Sorry to hear that. I hope you can work something out so you can keep a couple of cab's at least.

I only have 6 machines and it would kill me to get rid of any... (apart from that goddamn Star Wars which is testing my patience!)
