Sounds like it could be a power issue. Did you check your +5v voltage as suggested? Try increasing the voltage a tad if it's spot on 5v.

My choplifter used to do the same, It’s not enough 5v getting through. Failing that it could be a pcb fault but does sound like power issue

good to hear its likely not the board. Will check the power this weekend and see. Is there an easy way to increase the voltage that you are aware of?

I believe the silver brick on the left of this photo is output for 5v and 12v but i didn't see a way to increase:

Small hole in the front of the silver switching case is the voltage adjustment.
You'll need a screwdriver to carefully up the voltage.
Only do this while measuring the voltage on the ground and +5v pins using a multimeter though.
