[Nes4life]

In reply to how this raid worked; after I received a call from the owner I went to visit and evaluate their condition. I took a load of photos, made an offer for the lot, and arranged a date for collection. I got in touch with various semi-nearby forumites who were up for a raid and gave them a list of all the cabs. They reserved the ones they wanted but on the day only the pin and one small jamma were taken by other collectors; the rest are in my garage!!

I plan to inspect each at my leisure, clean and evaluate them (and perhaps get them valued) and then repair and / or sell / keep them. It'll take a while but expect to see them surface eventually on this forum.

- a squirrel nest

I took the fruities out of obligation but they have been shedding 50p pieces; so that's a bonus.
I'll get them open and check for arcade treasure.

I know what it's like having a garage rammed full of machines,I had mine rammed full a few years ago,and it got to the point where something had to go,so I ended up selling 10 cabs,to make it more workable and I now actually play the ones I have,rather than just stockpiling and getting nowhere

That speed rumbler is cool, doubt it was a dedicated which makes the Jamma cab it's in quite interesting. As is the one with the spectator monitor.
I'm sure once you have a good clean up and test session the Jamma cabs will find a home.

UNcderneath all the dust and crud, everything was so clean! None of the cabs have a single scrape down the sides and the only broken part we came across was a piece of perspex on the Thunderblade cab.

Impressive to see such a haul seemingly left and forgotten. Just crazy, but what an ace discovery.
Highlights for me are the Thunderblade unit, Final Fights, Robocop, & Op Wolf... boy I hope that Op Wolf gets running again

Thanks for inviting me along yesterday and good to catch up with some forum members again.

It was a long day but fun, only disappoint was as t-m says the dartford crossing.

Thant reminds me I need to pay for it.

One thing I learnt from yesterday is that I hadn't realised how bald my head was getting till I looked at the pictures
so looks like I will be needing to shift some cabs for either a hair transplant or a nice wig!!,!

Maybe some parts from the fruities will do the job!!

had to do Sandwich, Kent to Uxbridge, West London at couple of months back on a Sunday - normally takes a couple of hours, took over four. Gave up trying to get onto Dartford crossing, total gridlock and took about 1/2 hour to get across the two roundabouts on the A206 over the A282 - ended up going through Central London in the end

Well done Phil for rescuing all those cabs... and well done everyone else for helping out.

There still must be hundreds of these little storage units full of cabs just waiting to be uncovered.

Thanks all. The day was pretty epic and I've really got to thank the guys who helped out again. Everyone got involved with the heavy lifting and not everyone went home with something (in fact it cost them time and money to be there). So thanks again! Was a great experience. Now the restoration begins in earnest.

'You really should bring a couple more cabs into the house to free up some space in the garage'; not something you hear very often from the wife! Been told to turn the downstairs playroom into an arcade / office / repairs room too; woe is me! It's my birthday in about a weeks time... not sure I can justify another cab (well not this year anyway

!!)
