I don't have an account of AO and it would be rude to just be the first post, if anyone would like to put a post about it pointing to the announcement page on the website and the Q&A video we'd be very grateful.

We will of course look to setup accounts and join in and build relationships with members of those communities too.

Good luck with the venture, guys! To be honest, when UKVAC started dying about 10 or 12 years ago, I thought it would be all over for retro video games. However, with renewed interest appearing and new technology and products, the future seems bright.

My local pinball club, which has also had some vids over the years, is entering it's 20th year now with membership the highest it's ever had (30+)

. It's based in a small town in the middle of nowhere and financially is completely self-sustaining (we set the bar prices each year to spend the profits of the last), so it is doable.

Maybe one day I'll make it to the new RGP venue...d-type2014-03-01 15:18:29

Its been busy busy busy for us over at build-a-cade central this last few weeks since our announcement.

We're getting close to finishing now so thought we'd share a couple of teaser pics.

Back in January it looked like this - the tables behind the Space Invaders cab are there to simulate where we thought the wall at the back was going to be.

This Wednesday (12th March) it now looks like this:

Quite a transformation eh?

We have been taking as many pictures as possible and i've been shooting video over there each time I go but i'm juggling this, trying to negotiate deals abroad on some incoming stuff, oh and yeah, that thing called a day job and making sure the Mrs doesn't get neglected as well so I will get round to editing and posting this next week (honest guv!).

Some facts:

Started out as 3,500 sqft in total of which about 3000 was the warehouse/whatever you want to call it.

The original plan was to have the back wall all the way along but we realise we were covering a fire exit and the beneficial part was we could squeeze another 20 cabs in.

Major electrical installation of multiple independent rings with phase consideration (so no shocks touching the cab next to you) with over 120 switched outlets and 8 ceiling drops for ultimate freedom of placement.

All walls fully insulated, plaster boarded, plastered and painted.

Roof space to be insulated when we complete final A/V wiring install in next week or so.

Ducting for heat/cold air flow being installed shortly (yes, we've thought about keeping the machines warm in winter and cool in the summer so we can operate all year around).

We even have a popcorn machine as well.

Thats it for the major build now, electrics are being commissioned over the weekend and next we can start on the Audio/Visual install and then ambient lighting.

Now then, now then, now then...

Calling all you amazing people that have offered to help out - time to give us a hand.

We will very shortly be in a position (oo-er matron) where we need to play a major game of cab-tris so can everyone who could help come drag things around on the 29th please show your hands in a virtual sense.

There will be a layout plan organised by then to work to but the more bodies the better - BYO sack truck too if you have one.

Cheers guys and keep watching for more updates

PS. If anyone has a van, estate car, MPV etc it might prove useful as there's some smaller stuff I could personally do to move that i'm holding off from the trucks to allow machines to move.
