On Saturday 22nd February 2014 at RGP 6 in Blackburn, I tortured everyone for about 15 mins with an announcement and a presentation.

I had a feeling I was going to either have a warm reception or an angry mob on my hands.

For those that weren't there - and I apologise for having to turn a few people down and to fill in the gaps it goes a little something like this.

It was pointed out to me around a year ago that the first apartment wasn't sustainable for machines, when I took on the second place and filled that up, it was still the same situation so myself and a like minded collector who you know as U72 (Andy) have teamed up to take it to the next level so we could continue to house our collections, to make them available to the community to come and play and to make it easier for event organisers who are wanting larger and larger quantities of machines at their events.

So we have acquired a fantastic building - but, a building is just a building at the end of the day, its what you do with it, we wanted to ensure that it was comfortable, warm, and above all, looks like an arcade.

We have crafted what we believe is a sustainable financial plan as well with multiple avenues and none of which need the community to put its hand in its pockets. We would both sincerely hope that our friends we have made will still help us as they do now with some assistance with fixes - we'll offer our tech knowledge back as it grows too just as i've always done.

Both Andy and I have been itching to tell everyone about this but felt that there has been a lot of negativity in the past whenever anyone has talked about setting up an arcade so didn't want the distraction putting us off target - we know this isn't going to survive on coin-drop and we're not going there.

Andy has posted an announcement on J+ and we both sincerely hope that it doesn't get deleted because of his association with me.

I'm just finishing assembling all the proper press release stuff and organising the pages on the website, i'll update my signature with a link to the announcement video and follow up by teatime.

My friends on here will see it first, it will go live on Facebook/Twitter etc at 8pm to the rest of the public.

At 10pm tonight (25/02) i'll host a Q&A via Google Hangout-on-air, you can view it via this page:

http://www.retrogamesparty.co.uk/announce/public-announcement-qa.htm

The event page on G+ is here:

https://plus.google.com/events/ccdupa3f5o80ag0vk561um0oolo

I believe that if you go there you can join in or view but you can also use the Q&A and type in questions.

Its the first time doing something like this, hangout can only hold 10 people at once so you can use the Q&A chat box to ask a question or you're welcome to jump in with video/audio into the hangout and ask your question.

I can only spare about 90 mins for this so lets try and stay on topic (that's more my fault usually). I'll take most questions but there might be some we don't or can't answer just yet as you might be ahead of our thinking.

It's fantastic news but to be honest I've know n for a long time
I help build the bloody thing that was easy
The hardest thing was keeping it a secret
Well now everyone knows we all have to do our dam hardest to support this awesome new venture.
And it will be a great place for everyone to meet up and party
Well done and let the show begin

Great news, not made it to one of your parties yet sadly, but this sounds like it promises to be even bigger!

Thanks for being so willing to open your doors to the community.

Good Luck buddy,

Don't Worry about J+ there are enough here to support you alone

Julian seems to have issues with everyone and you get banned there for sneezing

I hope and expect that everyone is over that old drama by now.

Ping me when you've got your public announcement and photos/etc up and I'll chuck it on my blog, every little helps.

Sounds like an exciting venture for you both. We now all know where Andy will be putting all those cabs he's snapped up.

Looking forward to seeing what you have planned.

Really? REALLY! I thought everyone was above dragging up the J+/UKVac comments by now. Get over it everyone! We are a community of arcade enthusiasts - I wish people would keep their negativity behind closed doors not on a public forum. I try to stay neutral but it just winds me up seeing comments either here or at J+ Andy's post will most likey stay James as imho J+ isn't that petty - I'll be very surprised and upset if i'm wrong

P.S On a personal note I have experienced no issues myself.

Right rant over

I wanted to say I'm really sorry I didn't make this meet James, looks like an awesome project and I look forward to making up North sometime this year. I doubt i'll make the May opening sadly as I've got a holiday booked in the opposite direction.

Thank you everyone who is making this happen - The UK definately needs something like this to raise awareness, I'm amazed at how many people I know that because of big events like Play are now aware that these machines still exist! I could whinge about the fact its up North (curses to you!)
