Well what can i say?

An absolute pleasure to deal with! Martin is a true gent and got my cab from way up in Scotland down to me in the south west with zero issues at all.

Simply the best, a great chap. Enjoy that local brew mate, it's good stuff!

Sorry to hear you’ve had some trouble getting your refund.

This is the main reason why I like to pay cash on delivery. I always think there’s more incentive for someone to get the job done promptly knowing payment is waiting as soon as the job is completed, My thinking is that if someone has already had your money weeks ago and spent it already, then it’s more tempting to put the job on the back burner. I’m talking in general here, not suggesting this is Martin as my previous dealing with him has been positive.

Ok following on from my previous feedback... I've lost a bit of respect and my review is now lukewarm...

I paid him for two cabs to be delivered via bank transfer as after I purchased my ISIS cabinet a bootleg pacman cab came up which i purchased on the 10th of September. I read into what was on offer for this incorrectly and swiftly asked for a refund from the seller as it was too big a job for me and told martin the same day (12th september) that i would need a refund for the second cabinet as it's only the one cab i need collecting now.

123123.jpg

Didn't hear much in terms of what would be done for a refund. I just presumed it would be cash when he delivered my ISIS cabinet so thought nothing more about it.

22nd came along and my ISIS cab arrives. As stated, it came fine and Martin was a great chap but when it came to the refund I purposely waited for him to bring it up. He left it till the last second (literally as he's opening the door to his van to head off) and said just as he was leaving "oh about the refund, i will do it on PayPal when i get home tonight" I said "that's fine Martin take your time as I know you have to go to Birmingham after this and the days getting on as it is".

The next day comes, i hear nothing, don't think too much of it. Got through the weekend and I remembered on Monday this was still due so i messaged Martin stating i paid via bank not on PayPal and would he prefer to pay me via that method and did he need my details to issue the refund as an attempt to remind him a little. No reply at all.

234234234.jpg

Next day I offer my PayPal as an option to pay to stick to his original plan and perhaps make it easier for him to just stick with PayPal like he planned. This was 11am, no reply... Messaged again at 4:10pm, nothing again.

Today I quit the messing around and asked "Martin? Can you confirm please?" I finally get a very vague reply but a reply none the less... "I'll do it when I'm home later.." to which i replied "thank you".

It's got to nearly 10:30pm and i thought i better check and see if this is going to happen... it's now 11:05pm as i am typing this and i don't expect him to do it tonight as promised or get in touch.

At this stage I'm getting pretty annoyed. Imagine if i was on the breadline and needed this money urgently... Luckily I'm not but it's not the point. It's not fair to keep ignoring someone like this and I won't take "He's just busy" as an excuse. He's had an entire week to do this now with cash, bank or PayPal, there is no excuse.

He has my money, has had it for ages now (since the 10th). He should of refunded me when we met on the day if not before when i stated the second cab was no longer required and i first asked for a refund but i didn't want to be pushy.

Not impressed at all. Can't say i would recommend him anymore. I appreciate many people here have had great experiences with him but this is getting silly now I shouldn't have to chase my own money around like this.

Extremely unprofessional. Don't recommend at all. Communication in general was also very poor during collection/delivery process I had no idea what was going on most of the time. I got more info from the seller than i did with Martin but i decided to not speak of this before and let it slide but not now.

Martin, if you are reading this, please return my money you have all my details. I want the full refund too i no longer wish to give you the extra £10 i offered prior from the refund.

This is all i ask, please get it done asap.

Have you tried giving him a call? I've not had a bad experience with Martin yet and his gone out of his way to help me on numerous occasions. I know he can be pretty busy at times, sometimes he goes off the air and it can take him a while to respond but iam sure you'll get sorted eventually.

Fair point and it's definitely the way to go from now on. Though, I've sent money to people, even over sea's who i have no idea who they are on here and never had a single issue so I presumed with his reputation it wouldn't be a problem.

The thing is, it never did stop the speed in which the job was done it's just the refund that was the issue. I shouldn't have to keep asking especially when I've been told to my face that it will be done 'tonight'. Even if it was a day or two after that's ok we all have lives but a week and after so many messages asking whats going on? Really?

Have you tried giving him a call? I've not had a bad experience with Martin yet and his gone out of his way to help me on numerous occasions. I know he can be pretty busy at times, sometimes he goes off the air and it can take him a while to respond but iam sure you'll get sorted eventually.

I have, and text, and whatsapp. He has been a very hard person to contact all throughout this process like i said i had more info from the seller than i did from Martin. I agree he can get busy but a week just to send a quick PayPal payment? I don't buy that no pun intended.

Anyway, without any communication from Martin I've had a refund via PayPal 8:30 am this morning so clearly word got to him about this post. It's a shame it had to get to this stage but there we go.

Overall review:

  • Service - A+ does a great job, helpful in transporting and helping you get the cab from A to B. Friendly bloke.
  • Communication - Lacking, very hard to get hold of. 95% of the time i had no idea what was going on with my cab. Even calling him usually results in nothing nor a call back.
  • Payment - In my experience, ALWAYS pay in cash. Don't pay up front like i did for obvious reasons.

All in all, whats done is done let's leave it there i don't want to smear his feedback thread with negative posts this is just my honest experience.

Clearly Martin is reading this so thank you Martin for my refund (eventually).

The only courier to use in this game IMHO.
Great experience throughout as always,I have used Martin since he popped up on ukvac forums so what 10 years?
A+ service all round.send him a text with the details, call him,but remember 500 other members are doing the same daily.he works long days/nights. Leave the booking with him,I'm not impatient, and also don't want to hassle the fella.
It's the same etiquette as how members sell each other machines on here. No drama.
May we do business for many more years to come.

Cheers Martin,forcefulfil2021-09-30 10:27:16

I've used Martin for years and always receive a great service from him. Hes delivered to me maybe 5 times this year alone and has another cab lined up. Martin has went to London twice for my outstanding cab and the seller hasn't been available due to last minute emergencies. Any other courier would have went mental but Martin has calmly said oh well these things happen and not let it phase him. He also collected a pinball from me at the start of this year around 5pm and then not only delivered it 200 miles away that same evening, but as it was the buyers first ever pin, Martin put the legs on and set it up for him - dont know any other courier that would do that. I also know that anytime Martin comes up to me in Scotland he generally leaves the house at 5am and theres been times hes not got home until midnight and he works long hours regularly. Getting a hold of Martin via phone is not normally that hard. He doesn't text much as hes always driving so I know not to text him but if you call when hes driving he will generally answer or he'll call me back if he sees a missed call. However, having said all this, there is only actually one reason I use Martin every time.....TRUST! I fully trust him with expensive machines and know he will treat them like pets and not cattle. I know if he gets a machine for me it will arrive in the exact same condition as it left the seller. I like the fact I can ask Martin to get a machine and then I dont need to chase him or bother about it again. I know Martin will liase with the seller and get the thing and it will come up on the next Scotland run - never get any hassle when dealing with Martin.

I can't praise Martin enough for the service I receive from him.

Right on Phil.

Martin is the only guy I will use.

He may take while to get here but the guy puts in serious hours and proper old school grafter.

I personally have great respect for the guy, never had an issue in 10+ years of a completely reliable service.

In fact, I may have to buy a cab shortly as I'm starting to miss him.

I have used martin for years and as jason above said he does some crazy hours.. Imagine all that driving and moving cabs around also dealing with people.. he must get constant calls and messages and you cant reply to them all while driving.. You get customers who are impatient ones who make stories up about how the seller needs this picked up right away just because they cant wait themselves.. you get the ones who lie about the size of machines ones who arent even there when he turns up.. The traffic alone is bad enough then to be moving the cabs around when he arrives?.. Then hes got to move the cabs into storage when hes home until hes going to a certain area... To me thats stress and his prices have hardly changed in all these years.
Nobody is perfect.. if you think about the time he gets home plus the planning of routes before hes out again early in the morning its all stress and your going to forget things.. I couldnt do it myself you see how stressed out parcel couriers are and everything is normally worked out for them and they arent lugging cabs about

He doesnt just do this forum he does pickups for the pinball forums people on facebook

I don't know how Martin does this job. Long hours, heavy cabs to shift and people trying to contact him all the time while he's doing it. I imagine the current fuel situation has added to the stress and logistics.

Martin is a great courier he has dropped at least a couple of hundred cabs to me over the years. It's also testament to his professional that because he is aware I'm gubbed he will happily shift stuff for me to squeeze stuff in. Yeah sure sometimes it takes a while to get your cab delivered but for us old school heads generally don't need cabs pronto. Recently he helped me save £4k but that's another story ;) I've tried other courier's but ended up with broken cabs and lost stock which never happens under Martins wing.

I can't fault him, wish he was down south more, but he's a busy and really honest guy. I always pay either cash or PayPal on delivery. Unless he says otherwise I think the lesson learnt here is to not prepay unless the service requires it.

Another A+ for service from him here.

I have used Martins services for must be nearly 20 years and what a guy, always goes above and beyond and his prices are insanely inexpensive.

He very recently delivered a cab from the north of Scotland to me in London, arrived all wrapped up and well strapped down.

I would say AA+ unlike my other recent transaction here which is Z-

Martin helped me move house last week and was amazing. I'm sure he would be upset to feel that he had let anyone down. He is a really good guy 99.9% of the time.

I have used Martin for years. Can be slow, disorganised and bad with comms. But he always takes care of delivery and eventually comes through, which is most important to me. He is the only delivery driver I use...learned to live with the drawbacks.

That being said, what happened above is very very poor. It doesn't really have a valid excuse and should have been sorted.

Saying 'you shouldn't have paid him upfront' is not the solution.

It's fair rotunda posted that after it couldn't be resolved personally. Don't be made to feel guilty for telling your side of the story!

Another shout out to Martin who dropped off yet another cab for me at 9:30am this morning. Starting to think Martin is a robot. He never seems to sleep - left his house at 5am this morning to come up to Scotland!

As usual, hassle free delivery and Martin helped me move it into the mancave.

Oh and for info....Martin says hes coming back up to Scotland in 2 weeks time so if anyone is looking to buy or sell anything from up this way then you may be able to get onto that trip.

Thanks again Martin. Always a pleasure to see you.

Think I'd use Martin as well, but I don't think his van floats on water to Ireland. But then, you never know

Yeah I don't think Martin goes there normally, but he does do some special jobs on occasion so it could happen.

I mean, if you have a collection of classics and are selling them off cheap as chips then I'll happily commission Martin to get the ferry over and get them all for me
