Would be nice that on the map people can add locations and edit information about them stating what machines are there and the overall condition; similar to that of pinformerPinballgeek2016-05-18 16:03:37

There's a great arcade at the Hollywood Bowl in Basildon, at the Festival Leisure Park. Wouldn't normally call a Bowling Alley an arcade but it has a whole room dedicated to machines and it even has a Star Wars Battlepod!

Thanks fella.

I believe I could make it open for people to add to it and modify but then we have an issue where anyone can essentially destroy it if they wish to.

I'll add that other one Roly asap.

Great thread.

I'll be in Skegness on Saturday 25th June. Last time I went there was in the 80s. I'd be in the arcade, standing on a milk crate.

Anyone know of any places worth visiting with golden age games?

My hopes aren't high, but even a pub with a 60 in 1 table would do me

Last time there was any classic machines in that area was when I'd been joined here about a year or 2 and when I managed to buy the sitdown Chase HQ from opposite McDonalds, there were still loads of classic cabs in there back then, Rad Mobile, OutRun, Turbo OutRun DLX machines, F355s, Street Fighter 2 Champion, Thunderbolt, Space Gun, Space Invaders

Just a shame there wern't more people here then wanting to save more cabs, could of bought more from Mr Bell at the right prices, but they are all long gone unless someone starts up a classic arcade

Last weekend, me and a mate took a short drive down the Kent coast to Romney Sands Holiday Park. It's one of those holiday park type places, clues in the name, but visitors are ok on site up to 5pm. Reason we went was that we were tipped off that they had a two player OutRun 2 there!

And they do indeed. The full line-up from memory:

- Two player OutRun 2

- Two player Fast and Furious Super Bikes

- Two player Time Crisis 4

- Dark Escape 4D

- Roller Coaster Simulator

- Some DDR type game

- Some coin pushers, some redemption games, lots of fruit machines, some kiddie rides

- Fully licensed bar, also serving food

So, not a load of vids but some surprisingly big machines. Dunno how they could afford them tbh!

Happily spent £20 and a couple of hours in there. Won a few tickets, sunk a few ales.

A lot of the holiday parks have machines. We're now on the lookout!

A couple of entries for the Midlands because it looks pretty sparse -

http://www.fletchersarcade.co.uk/ Not had chance to visit yet but apparently they have a few classic cabs.

http://twitter.com/tilt_brum Cafe bar in Birmingham city center with around ten pins, a good mix of old and new. They do craft beer and posh coffee too.

The great western Arcade that is marked on the map is a shopping arcade, it might be useful to keep the missis happy while you sneak off to tilt though

I visited fletchers arcade last week it,s in the process of being revamped again it was the best arcade in the area 25 years ago and a regular place to hang out as a teenager untill
They got rid of all the cabs 13 ish years ago and turned into a over 18s casino ,then a row of shops, now they are trying the retro arcade .,sadly its not very good half of the arcade is over 18s fruties
And the other half is going to be a indoor over 18s mini golf course?
Leaving a very small space for cabs and all apart fro sr2 and space invaders had horrible lcd screen conversions
Cabs from memory are
Sega rally twin (not working)
Daytona usa twin
Pac man
Space invaders
Defender
Guns and roses pin
Addams family pin( top flipper not working)
All 50p a playrobotech2017-05-15 18:33:00

When you think about it, no one were playing the old classic machines hardly in early 2000's when I started buying cabs, most arcades still had a good few old machines, if there had been the amount of interest in them at the time and they were still getting hammered they would still be there I guess

So there must of been a huge decline in us older gamers playing them, so now they have nearly all gone, there is all this surge in them because there no longer around and retro arcades are popping up everywhere trying to cash in on it while the original arcades just decline more

It's all a bit bonkers really, so when there are retro arcades in each town again, is it going to end up back in the same loop, no one goes in there when the fad has worn off and they end up closing most because no money coming in

Where was all the interest back then before the last classics left the arcades all around the UK

I'm surprised there is any call for them with anyone that wants to play them can just use mame at home and play for free or if you want authentic experience a Jamma cab with boards or mame, only ones I've want to play are like Opwolf, Paperboy, Outrun etc on original cabs that aren't so easy to enjoy without

Be interesting to see what happens anyway but just seems a shame it's had to wait till all the classics had gone

Was conducting a similar search for arcades over on RetroCollect but this one is obviously more complete so I'll just whatever I can to this

People should start checking some of the smaller unknown bowling alleys that aren't part of chains, occasionally they have some good cabs. The one in Ilkeston, MFA, is a branded one but there's a Outrun 2 and After Burner Climax there, pretty sure there was one of the Time Crisis games.

All the cabs in Whitby mentioned earlier in this thread are all still alive and kicking, very surprised the original Sega Rally hasn't gotten the scrap yet as one monitor isn't right. Sega Rally 2 is still there as well, one side is set on Japanese bizarrely. There was also a deluxe Time Crisis 2 in one of them, projection screens still in alright condition but recoil only worked on 2nd player's gun. One also had what I'm certain is the first Daytona 3 in the UK. Both arcades had Walking Dead Arcade too.

The National Videogame Arcade wasn't very good when it first opened, I think all there was, was a bad Track And Field conversion, a repro Space Invaders and Donkey Kong + maybe a LCD fitted Neo Geo MVS, not sure if that one came later on. Now they're quite well stocked, there's a 4 player Turtles cab in amazing condition, a Tetris, Sunset Riders, Ms Pac Man, Time Crisis, Joe And Mac, Marvel Super Heroes, After Burner (upright), original Space Invaders (deffo not repro), a very shiny Phoenix cab that looked new, Star Wars Arcade Trilogy, OutRun 2 SP (upright) and Sonic Allstars Racing, along with the Neo Geo MVS and repro Donkey Kong I mentioned earlier. Would recommend a visit if you're in Notts.

Fantasy World used to be good in Cleethorpes but ever since it got resurrected recently all their good cabs went. The only vids of note there now are 2 OutRun 2 SP deluxes, and a strange cab I'd never seen before by Sega called Cool Riders, never released in Europe so I'd imagine not very common. I think there's a pic somewhere from 2015 from when someone broke in and you can quite clearly see a number of jammas lined up against the wall, turned off, took apart and looking sad. Can't find it right now but I swear I have seen something like that

Finally, I don't know if it's been mentioned yet but IOW's Arcadia, one of the last great places for vids has now been relocated and only houses a Time Crisis II and Sega Rally, which is a shame. All the cabs are in safe hands, the arcade op knew what they were and they all got sold on ebay.
