It would be possible but it has been a long time since I did the others and it takes lots of work to do correctly, especially as it's an M72 game with different bit flags for the GFX.

Hi Aaron

When you get a free moment could you check a sprite issue with SPATTER please?.

I have patched the 3 x 128 eproms (96,109,116) with the CUSTOM A patch using the main SPATTER mame rom set, all background and title screen graphics are perfect however all the character sprites are messed up.

Also tried just patching with Freeplay and High Score only - Game doesn't boot (Black Screen)

Out of curiosity I also tried using PIO romset and patching with Freeplay/High Score, same as above game doesn't boot, black screen

Thanks - Craig.

The game uses an encrypted CPU so to use with a standard Z80 you have to use the version that has the CustomA option as this decrypts the roms. I do mention this in the Patch Info.
What I don't mention though is that either the Mame dumper got the Sprite rom names wrong or Sega reversed the sprite rom socket order on an original board. Bascially you need to swap the pairs of sprites rom, 117 with 04 and 110 with 05.

Well I know it works correctly as I have a converted board. Did you read the instructions fully?
Did you makeup the MCU bypass board as per JPG and put this in IC74?
Did you program a GAL and put it into IC10?
The colour GALS are important but wouldn't stop the game running.

My board is the unprotected one, so no MCU to bypass! MCU is not present (and also some TTL around the IC74). GAL in ic10 is programmed, maybe the conversion is not compatible with the unprotected board?

Unprotected boards (and maybe boards protected with just the encrypted cpu method) will still have a weird jumper pcb sitting in the MCU socket, if your board is different you should post a photo of it as it may be a totally different revision than what's known.
