The thing is though, professionals scientists, engineers etc don't learn off the telly, they learn through the academic system.
So I don't think anyone would disagree that there's much to learn away from the TV.

But I'm not comfortable with any insinuation that anyone who watched the news or looks at the weather is being mugged-off by something sinister. We're all big enough to make our own minds up and are well aware there's multiple media sources.

I'd hate to live in a world where we all thought the same but I don't particularly like contentious debates on forums as too-often it taints people's views of each other, which is a shame when we're all here for a common interest, and it's a very friendly forum compared to many places.

i love all the conspiracies and think a lot of them are probably correct, certainly a lot of evidence points that way and the counter evidence if often absurd

like when Nixon via a corded telephone spoke to the people who were supposedly 290,000 miles away with some antennas, yet i cant get a signal in my local tescos through a mutti million pound communication network 50 years later to ask my wife if she wants an orange or blue Warburtons

It should take no more than 15 seconds to find an explanation of the Nixon / moon phone call. If you find that evidence absurd than fair play to you. But I have to say I find it utterly absurd that you’d choose to cite your inability to get a good signal in Tesco as some sort of counter factual.

Its just a regular phone call to nasa patched into the radio transmitter.

Don't think I've ever said science is settled mate, I've always maintained that we know very little in the grand scheme of things. Perspectives and opinions will keep changing since we all see things from different perspectives.



Although admittedly I posted the above pic as a bit of a troll, it kinda proves the point that mainstream science is not as infallible as some people think it is. I'm not here to fall out with anyone so I'll leave it at that.

You really couldn’t make this up - posting examples of misinformation published by tobacco companies…. to ‘prove’ that scientists can’t really know anything. Those ads were the big tobacco response to emerging scientific opinion.

Just trying to point out how much nonsense comes out of the TV, obviously all other sources too but you have to use your own discernment on the information but some of it is controlling your perception without you even knowing it which is what I think was happening from the Thread Topic

Anyway let's agree on we all have right to listen to what ever we choose and have our own view on such topics and leave it there and as I've said, it doesn't change my thoughts on anyone here, happy to talk to all about the Games and Machines 🤝

Like I said before everyone has the freedom to believe what they want just don't expect others to respect that belief.

I don't judge a person because they believe different things than me but I will point out where I think they are wrong.

But 45 percent of the smokers in the group have smoked Chesterfield cigarettes for an average of over 10 years and had no adverse affects on the nose, throat or sinuses!

Oh I see, my bad, so a company with financial interests in selling something sneakily used so called scientific data and manipulated it for financial gain. I guess you are right, that would never happen again would it. Case closed.
