Thing is you could have 100 machines but out of those you probably wanna play 20.

How do you decide what games to put in them unless you go really big and have everything most would like, my choice of games probably wouldn't be many others choice

If your having a meet up with a load of members you want a good selection of cabs to play so that won't work for small places

To make it worth it going for me I wanna see loads of Sega Simulator stuff or any other simulator cabs, Sitdown older games or even the later 90's - 2000s driving simulators, stuff I never got to play or seen in arcades, Ridge Racer with clutch and gears as I remember having go when that was new and not lasting long in full manual mode, so being able to play on that would be good without throwing loads of coins in.

Most joystick games you can play anytime at home on Jamma Cab or Mame so that doesn't get me to go somewhere, any games with special controls yeah cool or even the ones mirrored with artwork is great to see, that's just me and appreciate some probably happy to see loads of standard joystick games in original cabs

Some good points there. You can't please all of the people all of the time. But the reality is that most new arcades don't actually have decent joystick games. Apart from the obligatory Pacman and Donkey Kong, it's all racers, shooters and fight-and-go-rights.

I don’t think charging people to play Jamma /Mame or multi board games is sustainable.
You really need to have the games you can’t play at home .games with unique controls ,steering wheels .guns etc
Unless there is a lot of that and a load of big simulators its gonna get old quick
There’s no way of recreating the 1980s arcade ,as it’s not the 1980s ,so you need all the big games and pinballs on free play .not getting charged separately for them
Id love to see someone really attempting to do a proper 80s arcade .with old fruit machines ,those parrot machines ,old pushers etc as well as the 80s games .
Even better have it on a seafront and allow smoking so you come out stinking of it lol .well maybe that’s something that could be left in the 80s .
I just don’t get that vibe in any of these retro arcades ,maybe a good thing
As I used to go in with money to play all the latest games and stick it all in them old fruit machines.

They must have produced cabs like X-Men and Turtles in amazing numbers. Almost every retro aracde i've been has them both in the 4 or 6 player setup. It does make me wonder if there is any arcade in the UK with a Spikeout, in it's original BAS model 3 cab.

When I visited High Scores in Monterey CA, the best ones to play were definitely the mirrored artwork ones. Space invaders, Discs of Tron.. great cabinets. The surprise ones for me are the Co-Ops. Metal slug, ninja turtles, vindicators, etc etc!

When you get low lighting, decent balance of game volume.. a little background sound from people preferable to thumping music etc..

The kongs were busy. Space invaders too- when you get a SI cab that pretty.. and not pictured were discs of tron & tron right next to each other, black lighterrific. When I lived in CA in the early 2000s, the arcade in Santa Cruz Pier had both discs of tron and star wars environmentals. Always called in at those!

I have to say one game I never cared for in emulation but love to play in person is Spy Hunter.

Non of them will replicate my Arcade Days of having hardly any money to play the games so mainly stuck to Double Dragon so I could get my money's worth playing

Constantly worrying about loosing lives else you won't make it to the end was priority so I can get closer to that experience at home having to put money in while limiting it too so much per game, all on free play doesn't do that at all

Discs Of Tron or even better the Enviro cab would get me to a retro arcade, I should have taken Ol's offer up on a EDOT years back, such a cool machine and quite like the game though I'd probably be rubbish at it
