Then i dont think they are for you mate to be fair , And if you charging at public all the time its expensive.

As I said my boss goes everywhere in his and he loves stopping at topping it up , Taking a pee and grabbing something to eat and a coffee. Oh and he has the money to fill up as well ! lol

Dave.
Sounds like a great excuse for a works paid car, love to tell my boss i had to stop driving/working for an hour to charge the car

I sell around 130 cars a month , 30 of these are used EV , mainly Tesla, a few I pace, Kia and Polestars, demand has never been higher, I would sell more if I could get them.

Biggest seller is a Tesla model 3 LR or the Performance. they do circa 300 miles a charge , can "top up " 150 miles in 15 minutes at a Supercharger no RFL, no servicing intervals and comes with Lunar Lander and Gravitar pre loaded.

Get Octopus to charge overnight and you can get as low as 3 pence per mile or 7.5p per kWh, find a ICE car to compare with that.

I have driven a EV for around 3 years now as it saves me £500 company car tax and around £200 a month personal fuel compared to the cars I drove before, Cant ignore that saving.

They are a bit soulless and uninspiring to drive if I'm being picky but hardly a deal breaker.

Plenty of scare stories out there about EV most of which are by people with an agenda or are just waffling on about what Ken Dodd's Dad told them in the pub.

good post, also curious how much they cost in comparison to petrol cars and whether the savings each month just cancel out over the duration of the cars lifetime

Last year a 3 year old Tesla was £35k-£40k , this year same age car is £25k as good old Elon dropped the list price by over £10k without notice ( cost my company over £100k which was nice) but this means a EV is now in everyone's reach as when Tesla dropped the price every other manufacturer followed suit.

A Tesla Standard range for just over £20k or a LR for £25k on a PCP means for £2.5k deposit you can pay £270 a month for 36 months for a car which has no RFL ,minimal company car tax, no fixed servicing costs and can do 200 miles for well under a tenner and likely have a big chunk of your £2.5k you put in as a deposit still in equity when you give it back.

EV isn't for everyone but for most people there is a financial saving to be made over an equivalent ICE vehicle and they are far easier to live with than lots of people( most who have never owned one ) would have you believe but range anxiety, those in isolated locations and those who do hundreds of miles a day may find them more of a struggle.

cheers

i think the problem for me is that i am unlikely to spend more than 18k on a car, i don't do lease cars and have only ever purchased cars outright, so the EV market is probably not suitable for me when i'm not willing to spend that much on a car in the first place

18k o_O I don't like spending more than 2k  though I would of happily spent 16k on a NSX years ago before having house extended but with no garage I didn't bother

My daily driver was £175 with knackered engine, Civic was £250 which I used for 3 months till MOT up, took engine out and put in HRV, sold the civic parts so neither car ended up costing anything and it's probably worth £1000+ now but I like simple easy to repair yourself cars but it's still nice to drive and has everything I want

Problem with EV is the more people start getting them and i'm noticing more on the road all of a sudden, probably because they had to offer better deals and more getting older but you can be sure that soon as more have them the Government aren't going to want to loose millions in Fuel Duty so it won't be long before they slap on some sort of charge to rake in what they're loosing

Couple of years ago there were signs on M6 near J4a saying New Digital Motorway coming soon, but seems after the woman whose husband was killed on the "smart" motorway because you can't pull out of live lane in many cases was campaigning, the signs for Digital Motorway disappeared, you can be sure that Digital Motorway was going to be pay per mile

Cracks me up when driving on M6 where they drop speed limit to 60mph for Climate Hoax "Clean Air" and you have permanent 60mph on M5 Junc 1-2 for same, yet EV's still have to drive at same speed as all the ICE cars :ROFLMAO:

turn it in please, why do you turn every single thing you post into a conspiracy thread, how on earth can they have 2 speed limits for different types of cars?

you are ruining perfectly good threads on this forum with your insane nonsense

While we are on the subject of cars I see tyre prices have risen sharply with once budget crap like Falken nearly doubling in 2 years since I last looked.

Thread was only asking about fuel economy on Modern Petrol cars but it's turned into an EV appreciation thread

And calling everything a conspiracy while it all happens around you is wearing thin like antisemitic

Everyone should do themselves a favour and watch Rachel Mathews with Colchester Council Watch to see just how Corrupt everything is starting in local Councils going up to Police, Courts, Government that are using fake dissolved companies to put up 5G masts fraudulently but hey who cares, why worry about it

Some of the most interesting stuff I've been listening too this is

  • OP with history of posting about climate hoax posts a thread about fuel efficiency.
  • People post about EVs
  • OP gets annoyed as is of view that EVs are a climate action fraud
  • OP reverts to posting usual conspiracy theory tropes
Who could ever have seen that coming …. ?

I am not doing hyper miles that much now but have just swapped my trusty 2.0TD X-type toolbox/spares store vehicle for a surprisingly comfy roomy economical new petrol Skoda scala 999cc (yesSkoda) never thought I would buy one but got a great deal at repossessions uk near us brand new with just 11 miles on the clock but £9000 off original price ( I know the manager there but it was a fixed screen price) 23 reg but was part of a total showroom buyback insurance claim where 64 cars got flooded but 9 including this one were unaffected in Milton Keynes… only issue was it got pre registered and taxed in May 23 for motorbility or another customer? then the whole VW garage showroom and outside was closed down during insurance assessing and cleared for repo resale at new year24 and I traded the old 20 year old multi advisory tank for this.
Good move I think quite good fuel economy and looks like a medium size BMW according to my neighbour whose Range Rover now costs 700 a year to tax !
Happy so far it just lacks a bit of junction take off power till it warms up a couple of miles into any journey maybe just me having previous jag power for over 18 years?
My eldest daughter likes Skodas she works for the home office as forensic pathologist in Glasgow does fairly high mileage and her last 3 cars have been Skoda Fabia easy to park at Glasgow university even in her personal parking bay!
So far I am quite impressed with the change from my Diesel but Wife’s Renault Scenic is still diesel and does Glasgow and back from Cheshire on 3/4 of Tank 480 mile round trip which the Skoda hasn’t yet done.

Repossessions uk is part of synetiq group the biggest nationwide salvage and recycling of cars and vans etc. only last year got middle daughter a Stolen recovered Citroen C3 airflow with 40k miles 68 plate for less than half dealer value . Great lace to pick up a cheaply only issue is many only have one key but all are showroom no damage ready to drive away but get a pre sale check and service if reqd.
