What annoys me, is he isn't even the best driver. As Stevearcade said Alonso, Hamilton and Raikkonnen are better - it's just the flipping car! He gets parts that Webber doesn't get too!

The best car will always win as those guys are fairly evenly matched .....except for poor old Webber

Hamilton and Raikkonen are my two likes. I think Alonso, whilst great, is actually not as on it and as cool as he was when he was winning titles. But it's nice having him in the mix as he does mix it up nicely, he's still pretty amazing. Don't like him though, think he's a proper insane and petulant little man.

But then is F1 a sport about teams or drivers. If it was really about drivers, the cars would all be the same wouldn't they...? But that's been tried a number of times over the decades in other racing leagues and nothing's ever caught on quite like the combination of team and driver(s). It's a contradiction in the first instance really, but it is what it is and it's what draws the crowds. Hopefully next season Raikkonen at Ferrari will nicely mix it up and Hamilton will hopefully have a faster car too.

Great to see Raikkonen back and the move to Ferrari again could well be interesting as he does have some skills. Pity Mika Hakkinen retired, himself and MS used to have some real ding dongs.....back when racing really was racing.

Thats the worst part.

The whole vettel webber thing really turned me against vettel.

I've dipped in an out of f1 over the years, and it got really back into over the last few years but lately, you know if vettel is on pole or gets out in front on the first lap its over.

Im a raikonnen fan and like hamilton and button too. Give any of them the car and treatment vettel gets and they would win. I'm far far from an expert of f1 but when it comes down to just the car it gets boring for me.

F1 needs success ballast. Works great in touring cars its really close this season. Dunlop also do a great job with the tyres.

A friend of mine does (little) car racing, too. And he knows some of the people from Red Bull. Each driver has its own little team, they do their best to improve the car, they choose which parts and settings are used and which are not. It's not that they say "Webber doesn't get those parts, only Vettel gets them". In fact Webber could have the same car that Vettel has (and I guess he sometimes has the same car, maybe with different settings). It's just he isn't able to get the best out of it. It's like Frentzen or Ralf Schumacher a few years ago. They both had a very good car but they simply were not able to drive to the front.

It might be that Vettel is not the best driver in all the teams, but it's the combination of both, a good car and a good driver that makes it!!

Of course I like it when Vettel wins and a german dominates F1, but I agree that this has become a little boring on some way

I just don't like when people say that Vettel isn't worth it or that he doesn't deserve it. He's also working hard on the settings so he can be faster than the others.

Vettel is winning so resolutely because he has the best "package" on the grid. He's got one of the best, if not the best, F1 cars of all time*, he's got a well funded team, he's got great skill and he puts an immense amount of effort into it. I don't see how anybody can claim he's not deserving of his success.

Of course, if Newey was still at McLaren then Hamilton might be on his 4th WDC by now, Redbull could be midfield at best - as Jaguar they didn't set the world on fire. Or if Newey had been offered a share of Williams when he asked, he might have got Rosberg a bunch of titles there instead.

But whilst the car is responsible for a massive degree of success, Webber shows that skill is still critical. It's insane to think that RB would purposefully sabotage Webber's car though - you can never have enough constructors points.

There are occasions (such as the front wing last season) where Vettel gets one-off components if they've not built enough by race day, but there's nothing wrong with putting your effort/money where you'll get the best return. I think Webber just doesn't handle the car as well as Vettel. Listen to his engine note as he's going through corners - often more stampy that Vettel, often less clean lines and iffy kerb hookups. Plus if you can run in free air in P1 for 2 hours (which you get by qualifying best and not f**king up) then you're going to stress a marginally healthy car less. If Webber didn't want to overheat yesterday he should have qualified better and got in front of Vettel to enjoy the breeze!

After all of that, I'm not a huge Vettel or Red Bull fan, but I am a motorsports fan. The guy is thrashing everybody and deserves acknowledgement for that. Did you see how fast he opened the gaps when he needed to? Dude is driving multi-seconds per lap faster than everybody else. That is impressive.

Alonso is another hugely impressive driver, and I suspect he's noticeably quicker than Vettel but unless they end up in the same chassis we're unlikely to ever know. He reportedly does the same simulator hours, the same debrief, the same attention to detail that Vettel does and I think this is contributes to his quickness. It's a bit of a shame that Kimi can't be arsed with the off-track work because I think he could be fastest of them all if he did, but if he can race for top F1 teams, win titles and do it all in a few hours every weekend then nobody can complain

Roll on next year - the regulation changes should be a reset. Mercedes power should be superb because it's almost impossible for them to f**k it up because Mercedes, Renault power is probably a little less impressive, but RB are almost certainly going to have an aero advantage except they're going to spontaneously combust a few times in the first third, giving Mercedes time to bank some points whilst the non-AMG engines wail about power parity.

And whilst that's going on McLaren will come back with an awesome 2014 car and win WDC with Jenson

Just don't f**k up the front aero!

* Technically best in terms of what it can do. Not starting a holy war here :)

ohhh.. So Vettel is a racing driver? And Red Bull are now sponsers of racing?

When I first saw this post (and it being a Saturday afternoon) I thought that Red Bull and Vettel was the new incarnation of a Jägerbomb.
