Id never use anyone else other than Martin tbh.
just coz you may have had a non returned call or a late drop/collection doesnt mean his service is crap

he,s done 60+ drops and collections and will do more in the future

he drives 6+hrs a day and loads/unloads so no one can expect him to answer all the time

like most couriers they dont have a personal secretary...

i dislike your comments personally,we all have our own opinions

but think how we air them is the important part

people who provide a service for a living cant please everyone sadly, thats life....

I think it's generally accepted that if you want a cab sent from A to B and are in no particular hurry, then you use Martin. He will incorporate it into his route to keep the costs down.

He knows what he's doing and will never damage a cab.

I have only used his services 3 times now, and he has been exceptional on every occasion. A friendly chap and a pleasure to deal with.

To call him useless is very insulting..

Here's a couple...

1) Spend less time insulting one of the scene's most respected and hard working couriers in an open thread. You really have no idea just how much Martin is actually involved in or what he has personally done to support both individual members on multiple forums and large scale gaming events over the years

2) Hire a van. Drive the 100's of miles yourself and pick up your own games

We're a helpful bunch and you are of course free to use an alternative courier but wading in and publicly sl*gging off pretty much the only courier anyone trusts, who happens to be a close friend to many on here, well that was never going to end well was it?

Have to agree.

Depends what you want and on your expectations I suppose. Buying cabs isn't much like shopping on Amazon. One Click, straight to your door it's not. Finding a bloke to travel to one part of the country to pick up a cab and then deliver it back to your house is no mean feat. Especially for circa £85.

Nice and easy attitude is where it's at. 3 people to sort out for a start. The buyer, the seller, the courier - all need to be in place at a set time. Sounds easy ..... but not so.

Take your time. Bit of patience. Slow it down.

Martin is a smashing bloke to deal with. He cares more about the cabs he delivers to me than I do.

Other than Martin, as Chappers says, Shiply next best bet. Probably looking at kerb side delivery though.

Martin is a top guy and works his nuts off.

Good luck finding somebody else as I hope Martin will tell you to f**k off

Well some people just don't know how to conduct themselves.

With an attitude like that (of the poster) it's hardly surprising Martin isn't making a massive effort to get back to him.

I would not expect someone who spends large parts of his day and evening driving to instantly picking up the phone.

Martin is the only person I would recommend for collection/delivery, a top fella he is indeed.

Oh dear, poor old Martin's copping it, I think he is at times simply rushed off his feet, he has always told me to just keep sending details of new pick ups to him, he doen't need to reply to every message as that would take him away from driving, messages are taken on board by him & cabs picked up when he is in that particular area next. People do understand that he can't make special trips hundreds of miles out of his way for an £85 fee, what he does is where he makes his living so has to try & make some sort of profits by picking multiple cabs up from an area.

I've also been told if there is anything urgent with a timescale to just make sure it's marked as such so he can give it a bit more priority.

I don't think there are that many people who would try & run a business doing what he does, before I knew about the forums I've bought stuff from ebay & used the man in a van couriers & I'd be a bit wary as the ones I've used deliver in transits or mercs with no tail lifts which is far from ideal if you ask me.

I've had instances where cabs have taken longer then I would have liked to arrive, and the communication is at times not great, which has lead to frustration. but every delivery has been made successfully in the end, arrived in the condition it left. and was dropped off after work hours when I could be home to receive it, and after 8 hours in a van he still helps me lug the cabs up my 4 flights of stairs! If you have a 24 hour deadline to pick up a cab then perhaps another courier is an option. Otherwise there is only one choice really, and thats the deliveryman.

FWIW I met Martin once and he does seem a nice guy, however the person he was collecting for (well known here too) was getting exasperated with the situation for the same reasons and had to do a fair amount of chasing up.

I've never used Martin... but that's only because I've never had to so far. When the time comes, and I need a cab collected, I wouldn't even consider going to anyone else. In fact, I'm genuinely excited at the prospect of one day engaging the services of a legend in the UK arcade scene, and meeting the man in person.

I use 2 options for cabs within the UK. 1 - pick up myself, 2 - Martin.

Care of the machine is far more important to me than speed. If I want it quick, I'll go collect - solely in terms of price doing it yourself with a rental will be cheaper than a specialist courier (go and price up a long distance piano delivery for example).

Martin treats cabs like his own babies. This may not matter to you if you're getting a £150 JAMMA cab, but it does to me.

I'd be happy paying him more but he refuses to accept it every time!

gotts to agree, martin is a top bloke

he will get you're cab from a to b and it will still be in the same condition it left. many couriers will offer this same service but your cab is only a piece of wood/plastic to them. he has delivered/dropped off many many cabs at mine, all without problems.

i can understand bad mouthing someone if something has went tits up, however it appears that you have never used his services. so like eh how come you feel the need to bad mouth him ??? we all wait with sweaty hands for our new cabs to arrive sometimes it takes time. i would rather wait it out than take a gamble on another courier.
