Yeah 3D printing might be easier for that. The amount of time for a CNC to cut each hole, assuming the cut is fine enough would be crazy, and probably expensive. Will be interesting to see the final result.

I've had a few power supply covers made in the past and bright zinc coated. The small holes was awkward for them as some didn't cut properly and they ended up drilling them by hand.

Yes mainly talking out loud here and experimenting for best outcomes.

So 3d printed seems the way to go. I think this looks pretty good and is strong. Using PETG on my test prints here but will get resin black prints ordered once i have the size exact. The resin ones should looks nice and smooth.

Will be offering these for sale (black resin) . Gonna work out around £15 each i think.

Out of curiosity how long did it take to print? The resin should be quicker as it's doing a layer at a a time and not having to draw each and every circle. Resin printing is better for a lot of things,

I've a Saturn 2 8k and the prints are amazing, especially if using their resin, though currently just have grey. Cogs, wheels, rubber bumpers, etc... I do in the printer, then make a mold in silicone, and finally do a resin casting, as this way I can determine the shore hardness, look and colour of the final material.

Example: At the minute I've experimenting in making the Galaga 2 way joysticks. As part of the assembly they have 2 rubber bumpers of a particular shape. In the manual they're stated as a 90 Durometer material, so I'm looking at casting in different types and hardness to get as close a match as possible, something you can't do in direct 3D printing.

Built another full power brick assembly using the updated pcb with 120v ac output built in (for uv tubes etc). waiting now for (hopefully) the final board rev (4). A couple of connector position changes but all working nice.

Someone contacted me awhile back for one of these for a scratch build but i've lost the contact info, so if you are that person drop me a pm. I have one ready for you!

What does it cost for a fully populated board?
Prices are currently (inc vat plus shipping)

£250 for the fully assembled board inc all the transformers
£100 for the assembled pcb board on its own and source your own transformers (from the included spec/part numbers)

Base plate zinc plated steel with mounts i am hoping will be around £20 to £25 each

Here is something cool that i have been working on. I am having new all in one toroidal transformers made to test out with the new atari power brick boards i've created. This is a way to get the overall costs down in the future hopefully. Need to check the ratings are upto it, though looks good so far. Was designed based on my voltage & current ratings from my earlier design

Update on a few cosmetic parts for the outside of the cabinet.

Got my speaker panel printed in black resin and mounted. Looks great with a very similar finish to the coin door black.
Also, delved into a redraw and remake of the tempest marquee. Borrowed an original, had it redrawn in vector then enlisted the skills of @muddymusic to recreate for me. Looks mint!

The Tempest build looks really nice. I would really love to do one of these build kits.

I’ve got most of the original Tempest parts already, the only real sticking point for me is the vector monitor. I’ve got one of Barry Shilmover’s vector kits to convert a CRT TV, however I’ve not yet found suitable TV/yoke so the project has been put on the back burner for the last few years.

If you want to do a 14” vector monitor like I did here I can probably get you a suitable tv as a donor

That would be great if you could get a suitable donor. A cabinet with a 14” tube is a perfect size for me.

In an ideal world, I would also like to be able to find someone who would be willing to do the vector/yoke winding and screen adjustments for me as well. Basically I’d send them my kit and pay them to set up the monitor ready. Would this be something you would be interested in?
