This is going into my student game competition next time, it's a killer skill differentiator.

My best is around 10,000 but tend to get pissed off after a few games

It can be so close within 1 pixel, etc.
Alex did some crazy maneuvers, but with a joystick handy for the diagonals..I have been a keyboard warrior with my 17k...

It uses four buttons rather than a joystick and accepts more than one input at once so it is technically 8-way.

I knew somebody back then who was extremely good and always got the high score, no matter what.

One evening while he was playing the machine had a fit and the screen turned upside down.

He cleared a couple more levels, without dying, before it finally reset itself.
