you got another one then ? I quite like working with these cabs but I think it would be a bit more than £5 though

I think I'm in about £220 so far but have had a few bits done for the 2nd cab already.

My very good condition ID is now starting to look a little tired in the living room so might have to do this one as well when im done.

Looks like it'll be a minter. I doubt you'll ever see a nicer example.

Are you going to get the shifters rechromed?

I take it you have seen these too: http://www.arcadeinvaders.com/product_info.php?cPath=5_33&products_id=154&osCsid=dkn5hmgasjm1q630pf3khv5ao6

Really great price considering they are NOS.

not sure about the shifters yet.. I've had chroming done before and it was a nightmare & I am not entirely sure the originals were chrome as I doubt even a thin layer of chrome would simply flake off, I may look at polishing the ends and see how they come out.

as for the shifter covers, Im sorted. I brought 10 NOS ones from SUZO for £2 each about 8 years ago along with other NOS plastics that will be going on this.

I've now built the power input plate which I forgot to get powder coated in the first lot so the base is pretty much complete now, even with the "optional" earth wires connected..

2 core mains and no earth connected originally.. so that has been sorted now.

Installed in cab along with back plate

So at this point I thought I would see what happended when I turned it on.

RESULT !!

So on with some more re-building

monitor bezel cleaned and polished up
bezel.jpg

& Control Panel added, still need to clean up the Shifter & Wheel
controlpanel.jpg

Added base top, realised I needed some new bolts & screws to do it properly so only a few crap ones added until my order arrives.

At this point I dragged in all the parts to re-build the seat, unfortunatly it appears the powder coaters snapped one of the support plates and welded on 2 massive steel plates to support it so now the bolts arent quite long enough, In their defense they have done a cracking job of the repair so I didnt notice, but I did spend an hour trying to work out what was wrong.. luckily with some longer bolts it should all still fit together.

Once I knew I could power up the boards ok, I tested the 2 sets that came with the cab and as expected (even though there were meant to have been repaired by sega) they are TOAST

so these have been added to the 12 faulty daytona sets I already have.

Oh there is a nice cage & working board set ready to go in (sadly the only one I have left), I've even had it coated too as I could'nt face putting a dirty grey cage back in the cab.

I don't want to Jinx anything but probably am about too..

Just scored some NOS road burning action decals for the seat backs, coming from the states so fingers crossed, these are very rare, don't think I've ever seen any for sale in the past but Stephen from Video game parts had some in a massive pile of NOS SEGA stuff he picked up recently.

Looking at all the Parts he has for sale I could spend a fortune but must resist...

So i'm not the only one trawling the Internet at 1 in the morning.. Insomnia sucks
smiley1.gif

His site is at http://www.arcadefixit.com/ The listings are a little jumbled up so Select parts by manufacturer and he has a bucket load of NOS parts being listed more seem to appear every week or so as he sorts through it all, I think he received 5 palets worth of parts and bits in a massive haul, all old stuff too, you can't just order to the uk so have to email him with what parts you want and he sends you back some shipping options, some stuff is pretty expensive though..

Yeah, got chronic toothache right now so not the easiest to sleep with that!

Wow he does have a lot of parts, I've sent him an email for a couple, thanks for that :)

So yeah, back on topic, it looks like Daytona shifters were actually matt and the sega rally shifters chrome. Makes sense now I think about it.

hopefully get some updates on this again soon once i've finished restoring the seats the first half will be complete and ready to go.

I've already started to strip #2 but until I can get some more plastic sides I wont be able to finish it properly.
