Keep playing, it all comes with practice, you'll always make mistakes.

Youur muscle memory will do it all for you. The last time I went to arcade club i got 500k and hadn't played in months before that game.

Another thing I've noticed but not sure if it's just in my head, is that I find it a lot easier playing on a real cab like at arcade club. I have a reproduction cab running on a 60-in-1 which I play at home and it just seems a lot harder!

Would love to see a UK Kong off at some point!

Anyway I haven't played DK properly for a while now but I am determined to finally put the time in and get the Kill Screen. I will be streaming when I can, feel free to watch. twitch.tv/arnthestampede

My laptop is crap though so I can't run the chat room on it. Good luck to everyone!

Yeah, I have found this game does take some serious practise!

I currently play on MAME with a snes controller, wonder if I would be better on a real cab, never even seen one in real life although

If there was a UK Kong Off that would be great, just had another game earlier, got 93,000 and died on the springs! I thought I had mastered them but I was getting nervous as I was nearing 100k

Good luck on your quest for the Kill Screen!

Cheers, Rich

Been playing 2 games a day the last 2 weeks and seem to be getting the hang of it. Made it to the 3rd elevator screen just now and, unsurprisingly, died... time to watch those tips on how/when to make a dash for it at the top!

Anyway... 82,500 is my score... makes my aim of hitting 100K by the end of the year seem achievable. Playing on a 60 in 1

What I tend to do when not going for a record is set the DIPs to 6 lives that way I get more attempts on the harder elevator levels

1st game after putting DK in my Jr cab, onto my final life before end of level 2, then got onto level 5. Poor but at least I just played the 3rd elevators, managed a few run backs before getting up the ladder, so that was good.

112,100 - far from my best, but not bad for me.

edit- just noticed my card surround is curling up - doh

Go Eric, about time you cleared 200k

Pain in the arse swapping boards on these isn't it? Or is it just me!?

Keep going, a Christmas PB coming up!?

Ten bloody connectors and cables so short you can't really see what you're doing.

Nice having both, just need Jim's Nintendo switcher and it will be easier

Yeah it is a bit of a job I agree.

Nice video Patrick, great scoring, your last life was a bit of a laugh, we've all done it though!

You know your way around the game for sure, you do seem to be in a rush though, especially on the barrels. The trouble is it's stressful and you tend to just go for it. Tough game, really tough.

Great to see you guys getting into it.

Well done on your score.

Some might disagree with this (fairly), but with trying to get past the 3rd elevators for the first time, I would advise this -

Run on a long, long spring and don't look back! You might die, you might not. But you will get practice on timing your run.

If you try and factor in trying to retreat, when you don't have that timing right, you will die anyway.

Maybe some people can pick up the game and do it all in one go, but I couldn't.

I used to run on long springs and hope for the best. When I had that down, I eventually started looking at when to retreat.

Have to agree with what Ben said ^

Watch the springs, after a while you will know what length spring it will be from where/how it enters the screen without the need to watch where it lands.

We will all die on this level at some point though!

I've got my best score since trying to play one game a night (no time for anymore games). Not getting killed on elevators but finding deaths a plenty on barrel board even though I'm a much more comfortable multi barrel jumper. I tend to get caught in awkward places when random barrels appear.
