I've had a bad experience with Retrosix too. Do not recommend!!! He took my Naomi2 in for repair. Paid the money and got it repaired and sent back...returned worse than when it left me (semi-working originally, totally dead on return). Sent it back again and he said he'd have another go, then got back to me saying he had spent hours on it and it wasnt working but instead of me paying for his labour, he would just take the naomi2 as payment instead. Relutantly agreed. I was now down a naomi2 with a slight fault (still played naomi1 games) plus £80 and postage. Few weeks later he messaged me saying he had got it working and tried to sell me it back for £100 more than i could buy a new one from aliexpress. I waited until i had a few beers then let rip. Hes the only person i've had any dealings with while being in this hobby that i would absolutely go out my way to warn people against.
is this a true story, i mean, you have the address you sent it to FFS, that would not have ended in a rant for me

i think people being soft is part of the problem, it lets these chancers do these things over and over again

Very easy to say but what are you going to do, travel all that way then he doesn't answer the door then what? or he does answer it, what you going to do? hit him?

Small claims court is all you can do, and then it ends up costing you more than you get back.

In his latest video there's a bunch of heat damaged AES consoles covered in chinese turned pin sockets. The sales pitch is if everything is socketed you can repair it yourself, unless it's one of the 5-6 custom surface mount chips of course.

Just got the offending board back from Ace and it is as good as new.Works even better than before Retrosix got his mitts on it.Not only is it fully working but it's so clean you could literally eat your Saturday night takeaway off it.Real attention to detail and pride in his work here.
Thanks so much

Can anyone recommend somewhere to get your broken gear repaired then? I have a Mega CD1 which recently stopped powering on, and I don't want it in the hands of one of these cowboys.

This is local to me I am between bath and bristol (15 mins drive !) and James has done a 360 modchip and front end for me and currently has my Sega megadrive in for a Triple bypass/dfo and capacitors. He should be able to give you a qoute. He does not do arcade stuff I'll see if I have a picture of my xbox he did one sec caller. I'd just get a qoute of him. You could always send it to me if needed if he dont post etc.

This guy bglasgow2 on ebay is pretty good

He's also a member on here but can't think for the life of me what his username is. You could probably arrange something outside of ebay if anyone knkws his name here. His work seems good.

Thanks, that price seems reasonable. I'll see what he can do.
