My Nephew bought another Dreamcast, one with SD card in place of Gdrom drive, been modded with light up controller ports etc

I got him a Megadrive when he was about 3, he loves Streets of Rage and Golden axe, then I was buying Dreamcast stuff so I sorted one for him and he still plays Wacky Races on it now as it's better than on PS2

For anyone who did not get a copy of my homebrew set up, feel free to download here this is v1 as added some more stuff and edited order , now has 359 folders. I'll leave this link open till end of the year.

Be interested to know how long it takes to download as is on my onedrive rather than a torrent.

i reckon about 30 minutes

i've started the DL and its running at 13mb per second, so if we round it down a bit for drops in speed each GB is going to take about 100 seconds

x17 = 1,700 / 60 = 28

We loved ours. I kind-of felt it was a doomed system, but there were some great games.
I can see how it looks like a lot of arcade ports in retrospect, but at the time it felt you were getting almost cutting-edge arcade games at home.

I got dad to catalogue all the games in the attic recently:
Resident Evil: Code Veronica
Crazy Taxi
Hydro Thunder
Virtua Tennis
Quake 3 Arena
Streetfighter 3 Double Impact
Streetfighter 3, 3rd Strike
Power Stone
Power Stone 2
Headhunter
Greatest Arcade Games
Sonic Adventure
Chu Chu Rocket
Soul Calibur
Jet Set Radio
Metropolis Street Racer
Marvel VS Capcom 2
F355 Challenge Passione Rossa

I've not sure I've played it in 20 years though. I guess I'm not one to revisit stuff I played to death back in the day. I should mod it to play copies and flog the discs on, looking at the eBay prices for some o_O. I wish I'd realised 3rd Strike could do native resolution via a button press trick - the default iffy pixel scaling did annoy me. I'm not a great beat-em-up player, but the arcade version is also much easier to parry due to the lag of the DC version :(. No widescreen on DC Double Impact either :(.

Pimped my DC out a bit. Replacement shell, GDEmu, Pico PSU, Noctua fan and LEDs for the controller ports...

Hi, where did you get controller LEDs from I seem to go down rabbit hole when I look. The new usb power supply has a 5v and 12 v rail so hoping will become easier for adding stuff like that on. I am plugging my noctua fan straight into the 5v now instead of convertor cable.
Cheers

I just soldered some LEDs in myself, but I've seen kits on ebay for around £10.

Long shot, but does anyone have a System Disc 2? Found a spindle of Beta GD-Roms in my loft, would love to see if they work. Stuff like SF III Third Impact, Jet Set Radio, Dino Crisis.

I downloaded it earlier today. I wasn't watching to see how long it took but it seemed to be coming down at around 40-45MB/s. Will give it a go tomorrow (had to order a 128GB card for it)

Are you able to host this file a couple of days longer as when I tried the whole batch of folders it just kept crashing so I had to do the downloads in batches but never got to the end before you took the link down ☹️

Missed this thread and would appreciate the homebrew link going back up again if possible @Venom ! I got some of the Atomiswave conversions when they came out but haven't spent much time on the DC since then.

I spent way too much money on a Jap DC when it came out (1998 I think), along with import games at £50 a pop. Years of tolerating PAL misery had taken its toll, and I wasn't going to take it any more! And it felt worth it for HotD2, VF3, Sonic Adventure, Soulcalibur, Power Stone, Sega Rally 2 (even if that was a bit of a disappointing conversion), DoA2, Hydrothunder, Zombie Revenge, Crazy Taxi. So many good games in a short period of time. Was gutted when it was abruptly canned.

I stupidly sold my JP console and at least 50 games for £100 about 15 years ago on eBay. I bought a Regulation 7 version a while back to ease the pain. Will have to dig that out as it looks really cool!

I bought my DC and games from an import shop in Carnaby St,

There was also a small import shop on the way to Kilburn, called Peter’s I think, bought Sega bass fishing with the rod. About £80 🫣 fun though.
