I've been continuing to use Custom Postage when listing, haven't been forced to Simple yet. I tend to buy RM postage direct - collections are quicker and they bring labels with them. Only time I'll use eBay for buying postage is if I need to get the package out quickly - use the QR code and drop it at the Post Office.
Yep, that's the way.
Custom postage, 3+ other day courier and I also offer free postage.
So it's up to me who I send it with and I already put the estimated postage, into the listing.

I'll then update the order with tracking and who I've posted with.

Have you two sold recently? For years I've always done the same. Forced simple delivery is new and it's changed existing listings.

It's a roll out. It'll hit your account at some point soon. I wasn't sure or bothered enough to debate a semantic, but it only took a google. Some results use a line like "starting from" 15th April and being a bit ambiguous that's been misinterpreted by reports, that's all.

The reason for this thread is that some of us have been hit with it, not because we've all forgotten how to select shipping, though I wouldn't put that past me these days.

From 15 April, we’ll gradually introduce Simple Delivery as the only delivery method available for private sellers

For me Simple Delivery will make things more complicated. At least one in ten of my sales has a problem with the address I have to fix. Losing the ability to have RM bring a label when they collect is an enormous step backwards.

Like most of you, being able to have control over postage was a key decision in choosing eBay over anywhere else. Once it's forced on me, I'll reconsider what I'm doing - I've found Vinted listings far easier to deal with despite the postage nonsense.

ebay have done this specifically to copy the Vinted model, as they have lost a LOT of business to Vinted recently ..
It kind of makes sense in the way that it gives the buyer the choice of the courier who delivers their item, like some people have shitty EVRI local couriers who lash their parcels over the fence and some people love their local EVRI courier, and know them by name and all that and have more issues with Royal Mail. It depends where you live. It kind of works too with clothing (which is the majority of what's sold on Vinted) but with electronics and other items that are easily breakable, weird shapes and sizes ... not so much. Also ebay aren't delivering it very well so far with stories of sellers being supplied labels for the wrong weights and size of parcels which are being then being rejected at the post office. I'd certainly not want to have to deal with it myself but thankfully all my ebay accounts are business ones so it doesn't apply (yet?)

I think that only makes sense if the buyer is responsible for claiming in case of damage. But the insurance is with the seller.

I'm lucky enough to WFH so collection with label is a massive benefit. Quickest walkable drop off is a Yodel point, but that's not always available and the next nearest is 10 mins drive. Beyond that there's an Evri and Post Office that are a few minutes drive, inevitably busy so a queue for 10 minutes. 20-30 minutes out of my day for a single package of a few quid value, plus the energy use/emissions from having a single car round trip.

This is why I dont like Envri , 2 People are currently available to answer the door at home But .......................

We will not bother to knock and just chuck it next to the door. It should not say ' We have delivered your parcel ' it should say ' We have dumped you parcel by your door , Hope it was not fragile as we dont give a shit ! '

Dave.
