New CPO has arrived:
Hearty thanks to WhiteComet for his time spent working on the vector image - I owe you a few pints sir
It's come out superbly.
Next
to what's left of my original you can see the colours are spot on! Was
well worth spending time getting draft prints done to match it up
That arriving gave me a push to get on with prepping the metalwork for some de-rusting, and fresh paint.
New T-Molding gets fitted. Makes such a difference to a cab putting nice
new shiny stuff on, and so simple to fit as well - apart from having to
flip the cab in its back then on its side on your own of course
Start refitting the loom and pcb's. I've used all new screws and bolts for all the fixings so far.
All done, here's how it looks today. Not too shabby
Time to rebuild the coin doors.
Unfortunately there were a lot of
missing parts when the cab arrived - the switches and lamp holders were
present, as was the wiring but no mounting plates or actual reject/entry
slots, or any locks.
A rummage through my spares and I couldn't believe that I'd actually kept the exact bits needed from a cab long, long gone!
These
things are a pain in the ass to rebuild! Had to take the door off and
put it together on the floor, but now it's all in (minus mechs) and I'm
very pleased to see it back how it should be.
Metalwork has all been given a fresh coat of matt black paint and looks infinitely better.
Cleaned up, touched up and reattached the monitor shroud.
Top part refitted to cab, makes a massive difference!
Bezel given a good polish with novus and it's come out well.
Time to apply the new CPO.
Get it in to the correct position
checking the button holes line up and the edges are straight from top to
bottom. I'm happy to see it is the right size with just a few mm
overlap on either side.
Move
the clips down and cut away a section of the backing paper. Good spray
of water then apply, you can peel and stick a few times to get it
correctly positioned. Once it's right squeegee out the water.
Once
the first section is applied it's easier to do the rest. Take your time
on the curves and work a few mm at a time peeling the backing away as
you go. Last bit applied and a little bit to trim from the hinges. Move
the clips to the top and bottom areas where it's most likely to peel.
Nice new craft blade to cut out the button holes and I can stick everything back together.
Here it was when I got it:
And here it is now:
Control Panel reattached to the cab:
Cash box & service panel mounted. Think I'm about done with this one!
