Well more like a plan, I'm classing it as doing a Bods

.
I have 1.4m of space at the side of my house between the house and the boundary fence..

Had the architect round to discuss the loft conversion and broached the topic with him and he reckons I might need some planning permission but didn't see a problem with getting it granted.

by the time I put up a 1 brick wall and some plasterboard with insulation on it I should have 1200mm to play with.. enough width for a cab

Well, It's going right done the side of my house so I reckon It'd bound to be at least 8M long.
Should mean I can get my pin back, maybe another and squeeze in 4-5 more cabs

.

Only downside is it's a bit away unfortunately as the loft conversion and new front/back ground floor windows are up first.

Not that wide, but just enough to have one long row of machines going into the original extension and increasing the total inside wall length to 40ft, extension on side about 6.5ft wide by 23ft

Nice one Ian, I hope you pull it of.
I am at that point now where I would like more space.

We all need more space...

I am now having to sell off cabs to make room for all the other cabs I want. We can't have it all... and I refuse to pay for storage.

Can I ask the cost of that ?

I`m trying to weigh up doing something similar at my home.

Drive way is useless too. We have a gate at front of house, with the garage set back behind the house.

I am thinking about adding room at the side of the house to use a as a utility room, so I can have the garage as my workspace / cab room.

Not quite as wide as bods but still just wide enough for a row of cabs and/or some pins too.

At the front and back of the house I should be able to make it slightly wider^ to come roughtly in line with the kitchen window

You need to be carefull and make sure what ever you build does not overhung onto your neighbours property. Usually its the roof and guttering which will mean you loose another 200-300mm.

I thought regulations specified a minimum build distance from the border if your property. Bods did your neighbour give you any grief with regards to access of that unit in the side if his house?
