Personal preference for 2 29" machines:

Konami Windy + Konami Windy II (for looks and the smallest footprint of any 29" cabinets)

Second choice - pair of Astro City.

Third - Egret II/3

Naomi/Blast quite low down the list. Probably just me but I feel they're built a bit fussy, and they're the widest of the lot.

Aeros I've never liked.

Jaleco Pony III - outspoken advocate. They are a horrendous price now but they're by far my favourite CRT cabinet. 2nd choice is a Taito Canary, but those are even scarcer and harder to restore to a nice condition if ropey.

Don't know if this will help your adjustment.

But it opens up extra hidden geometry and colour settings on the tosh tri sync. No hold settings though. I think they are on the flyback.

Thanks for the info! Don't think it's compatible though. It's not the Toshiba in mine but the Weiya or Rodotron666 from what others here told me a while back.

Supposedly this fix will work for the 15khz: https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/Rodotron_666 then it just needs pots adjusting on the chassis, but I've never had the nuts to try and do it. Was thinking about getting a specialist to do it but never got around to it. Difficult to disassemble the thing to ship it by myself, too.

I did see the prices on some of those Jaleco's in the sales section and OH BOY you ain't wrong. Honestly, it looks like a fantastic cab, but for the cash I need something I also like, and purely personally I find those hard angled cabs super ugly. The Aero and the Jaleco. The Aero not so much I'd take one of those over a Jaleco I think but, if we're talking dropping 1k+ neither would be my preference. Weirdly it's only angular candy cabs I don't like, on the American style cabs, I prefer angular and don't like the more rounded ones ha!

Konami Windy looks real nice! Never heard of that cab before. I definitely think an Astro or Blast City or Konami Windy would be my preferences in terms of looks. The Dino King is super cute honestly I just love it, but I think the suggestion that it's too small put it out of the running.

edit: I already like the Blast City but it also looks like the marquee art is the same shape as the NNC, that might be a benefit. I dunno, no hurry I'd probably be looking to get a new cabinet sometime closer the end of the year if I did. I've got about 12 new boards this month to churn though to keep me entertained! :D Unless a great deal pops up.

How would you guys rate the screens on the Windy/Windy 2 versus a Blast/Astro City? And do you know if they are all Tate-able? I know both Windy's are, and the Astro but not sure on the Blast. edit 2: Looks like they all are!

Thanks so much for all the helpful info by the way guys.

New Astro's for me have one of the best 15Khz CRTs I've owned, I prefer them to the Tosh PF which is also an outstanding picture quality so I tend to use the NNC for 31Hkz stuff but it still looks great with the 15Khz stuff, I did have an Egret 3 with the Wei ya Monitor, that was not in the same class for me.

Oooh you guys weren't wrong about those two New Astro's looking nice together. Looks alright next to the NNC too actually. Nice to hear they have good screens too.

The Windys have the best 29" CRTs. The Sega cabs a close second. All of them rotate but the Windys are frameless so need more care and attention to do.

Cabs in pairs win over anything else ;)
