The purpose of our Acquisitions Group is to discuss why an item should become part of our collection, taking into account our mission as a museum, our collecting strategy as well as any logistical concerns around the item’s safe storage, preservation and display.
Not to harp on NVM too much but this statement really annoys me. How about the fact it's the last one in the world? It's a truly one off, unique piece of arcade history? Why would this even be a discussion... idiots. Sorry but that's just stupid. I can understand the logistics though for such a large machine.
we were informed that the garage the Ridge Racer Full Scale was housed in had a leak which damaged the PCBs and that the machine was subsequently scrapped. Our requests for more information have not been answered as of 26th August 2021.
Well that's just lies as Alpha had pictures of the machine outside, in the wet and in a very bad way. Leaky roof my a**. Not blaming NVM on this btw it's the guy who got his hands on it, he just spun a web of lies to everyone.
If the PCB's were indeed water damaged too then that's a wrap I guess.
We have been made aware of its current condition and storage location, and are working with the appropriate concerned parties to address the situation.
Location? the local scrapper? As it was stated it was scrapped... right? Whoever this guy is, is a complete idiot. He undercut me and others who could have preserved and restored the machine under the false pretence of it going into a museum.
Tempted to call the leisure company i know and ask if it was given to this idiot or if he actually paid anything for it but I'm sure they don't need the hassle. I'm sure they have had enough calls about this.. Their intensions were good it's just a huge shame they were sold a pack of lies.
If he got it for free thought and did this to it. Well...
(I'm joking i'd never promote violence over a video game haha. But the guy is a pr1ck for sure)
