Just wanted to give an update on my plans - since the last post I have not found anything else of the structure, the only parts that remain of this are three side panels with the RR logo on them. My plan is to rebuild a version of the machine, it will not be a replica but will be instantly recognisable. The original Eunos Roadster will be restored and the game will be played in the same way as the original. The new machine will then be available to play at an arcade (once a home is found). This is a big project so it will take a few years but I will keep you all updated... It would be great if you could all share your memories of playing this machine at Blackpool Pleasure Beach or any other Ridge Racer Full Scale.

This sounds fantastic Jamie. What a project!

Please share pictures as you go. I can't wait to see how the Roadster has held up after all this time. Also, there are plenty of people on here that'll be more than happy to help with any problems or to assist in tracking down spare/replacement parts, so please just ask. Seeing it back in action would be a passion project for many of us!

It's fantastic as well that you're getting the ROMs dumped via John. He's an awesome member of the community that really knows his stuff, and particularly so when it comes to RR. Having access to those ROMs is massive for arcade preservation and will almost certainly benefit your cabinet at some point. Brilliant stuff!

Best of luck with it.

I was going some digging to see if there was any better interior shots of the eunos when new, the flyers doesn't help I need to do some more research however this video helps https://youtu.be/JXOBibVF-jw

Indicates that the car originally had the optional nardi wheel which can easily be tracked down However I was more intrigued in the radio system that was removed and blanked, as you could have been able to chose tracks to listen to. Also me thinks that the original seats have been replaced. Can easily source some original eunos seats that actually have headrest speakers anyway.

From what I remember the last I played the manual option wasn't working, I'd love to see how that was set up.

Eunos parts from what I remember needed touching up:
- original steering wheel
- original seats
- mirrors might have been removed I can't remember
- radio
- start and select button changed (hazard and pop up light switch)
- door cards (they looked absolutely shagged)
- centre console (it looked like either a custom one because it was short unless it was hacked and chopped up from a full size one which I have spare.

Might be worth getting in contact with the original operator he'd have a better chance of knowing this and hell might have some spare parts

The Arcade Club came and had a look and said that they wanted it, they were going to reconstruct the machine, they took the pcbs and said that they were going to make a head start, they told me they would be in contact in a week + to arrange collection, I need this stuff away, when I contact Andy I am told that they are arranging collection. Andy is being less than vague and won't give me any info on when it will be collected, he told me he had a van so why is it taking so long???

What do I do?, I don't want to skip the stuff but can't keep the stuff indefinably, I decided the project was just to big for myself so was glad it was going to someone else but now they have the boards I can't give the stuff to anyone else to do.

Did they just want the pcbs and just pretended to be interested to get them?

I have tried calling but you don't answer, and I got quotes for you including a flat bed £98 but didn't seem interested in them. The problem is you can't give me any information or even get in contact with you

Is John Bennet not getting the pcbs first for dumping the elusive full scale roms?

Maybe John has already had them and returned them back to Jamie?

Whatever happens, hopefully this can be sorted out amicably. I’m sure everyone involved has good intentions with getting this machine saved/restored.

@jamie don't worry at all, Andy's a great guy and even if it looks to you like it's going wrong, there'll be an explanation and it will come right. If the absolute worst came to happen (it won't) there's also plenty of us out here legit willing to help.

Again... Don't be worrying, you've totally done the right thing.

Just contacted Jamie - it’s all ok :)
