Ultimarc also used to do a rotary stick USB board.

Also I read arcade world do one
But I don’t know which ones?

Went for the ultimarc optipac
Simple to purchase and ship

I have
Time soldiers
Gorilla war
And midnight resistance Pcb but figured I would like to try other rotary games on mame

Good stuff. I didn't see the optipac was rotary compatible. looks like a better option for sure. Would be interested to hear how you get on.

Will let you know.. and I can compare responsiveness of optipac & mame with the original
Pcbs too
Guerilla war
Midnight resistance

The Optipac wont work for the LS-30 rotary sticks as its designed for optical devices like trackballs and spinners, it does mention rotary stick in the specs but its referring to optical rotary sticks and not mechanical ones like the LS-30.

Ultimarc did years ago make one that could plug 2 sticks in and when you rotate one of the sticks it sent a keyboard keypress, a different one depending on which direction you turned the joystick so you could map in mame to get the rotary effect working, doesnt look like they make one anymore, and barely seem able to find much info about it. Looks like they replaced it with a joystick upgrade option for their own joysticks they make.

There is this project to make one https://www.pcbway.com/project/shareproject/MAME_Rotary_Joystick_to_USB.html and if you know much about Arduinos if you have one based on the 32U4 chipset you can configure it as a virtual USB keyboard and then wire the rotary mech pot to it to replicate what the Ultimarc version did of sending a keyboard command, not sure how the rotary pot works though so you would have to figure that out and work out a program that could tell which way it was turning.

That's a shame. In that case I believe the only off the shelf LS-30 rotary to PC usb interface is the old GP-Wiz40 ECO from goovygamegear? It works fine for me.

Doesnt look like the Druins is still made anymore.

If you get desparate I could be tempted to sell my Ultimarc 2 player encoder for the right price as Im not currently using it and only have the one HAPP stick anyway so could probably knock up one of the DIY interfaces when I come to use it or just get a Ultimarc J-Stick conversion kit.

It only does the 2 sticks and not the buttons but if you have the original harnesses they plug straight into the board.

Sound cool thanks for the offer

Any one got a need for an opti pack!

When it arrives..
Just seems a drag buying the gamersgear option
Setting up account plus post from usa
The. Import tax etc…

Might just stick with the three pcb
I have and be happy..

Just seems crazy there is no off the shelf
Option for uk.
DIY is poss was watching vids on it on YouTube.
But seems about out of my mental capacity

Will leave it up to you
Appreciate the offer
Just drop me a pm with price if you want to
Pass on for right price.

I think there is a mame hack also that makes
The keyboard direct input option viable ?

Was it not an Ultimarc rotary interface?

They are not made anymore, but you can build one using an arduino that will also handle the button and stick inputs.

I think it has to be a certain arduino chipset that let's you emulate a USB controller.
