I've seen a sneak preview of the layout of MK2 and I had to change my pants. Twice.

You changed them twice... I didn't bother changing so I just threw them away at the end.

Exciting stuff buddy
You've been working hard on this one so I can't wait to see the finished result .
Have you got ideas of paint colours/ theme for your games room yet ?
I know you have that big Budweiser sign to go up, are you going to put up LEDS ?

I'm gonna go a bit differently this time and instead of painting the walls I'm going to use backing fabric like is used in theatre sets etc.
Lighting will be a mix of things, some rope lights, and some EL wire, and long term I plan to make use of the plexi marquees I've been saving up.

Thanks for the tip, glad to say I've got mains power for the EL stuff. It's all quite new to me, it does look great that's for sure though.

So here's the Muddycade MK2...
5.5m[sup]2[/sup] of open plan gaming area, complete with a 5x2.5m attached workshop area, and all under a pitched roof with masses of storage space. It's arcade heaven and I can't believe I managed to get it. I'm a very lucky man.

It's secure, dry and has power hooked up, there's a fair bit to be done to make it a proper games room, but I've already made a start.

I've got a plan for cab locations marked out, of course that's already changed as a few cabs have changed already

I'm taking all the building advice from our resident builder Mr. Chuckie Egg, the electrics are going to be handled by tb2000, and I'll be doing the rest.

I needed to work out how best to arrange the cabs in to the space as I'm actually already pretty full! Best way to manage it was drawing out a plan to scale with actual cab sizes marked out.

One door will be sealed, insulated and covered from inside. The other will be insulated and close from inside, the eventual plan being to get an electric roller door fitted.

So the plan has one DLX, 3 cockpits, 5 upright drivers, 2 sitdown cabs, 1 candy, 2 mini's, 3 uprights, 2 jamma's and 2 cabarets for a total of 21 cabs. How the f*ck did that happen?

I've just realised I missed Donkey Kong off so that's 22. Sheesh.

I want to keep the workshop area relatively empty on one side so I can work on 2 cabs easily as it was really frustrating in my last place having to squeeze around everything just to adjust a monitor chassis or something.

I've made the whole layout around the ability to easily pull a cab out so there's always a 800mm minimum gap in front of a cab (bar the corner ones which require pulling a cab out to lower the seat) and there's a nice big space between the 2 rooms.

Awesome matey, pleased to see you moved in now

So you've done my trick, fill the space before you get it, every extension I've had I bought up machines I wanted when they came up and filled the space before it was finished, well over filled it and then needed more lol

Loft space as well, now that is handy, think I'd have retro computer/consoles space in that as well as storage

You're gonna love it in there - do you think you'll ever visit the missus in the house??

It's a great space - couldn't be more perfect. Ideal to have a separate workshop area for servicing and prepping new cabs for the arcade.

Reminds me of the early photos I took of my garage - things like hosepipes, mowers and garden furniture were in there.. not for long!!!
