I always remember my Dad explaining that TV's, monitors and other appliances can hold power for years after they've been unplugged. That's worried me for years - so it's a godsend to have an expert offer to tackle this!

Haha... I think expert is a stretch! But I've removed and replaced quite a few chassis, and have a nifty tool for safely removing the anode cap.

Should be able to swing by today...

We successfully got Pete's chassis off. A WG 19K7689. But it does have some physical damage where one of the bigger caps has gone pop and taken a chunk of the circuit board with it. I've sent the photos off the Grant to see if it can be safely repaired.

I've recognized he wrote about a 35mm projector. This is how it looks like.

And you can see the window in the back wall of the cinema.

Yes, excellent work today Jim. Thank you again - it was great to meet you. You got a great shot of the projector or as my partner refers to it, "the other woman!"

(Yes, very heavy Dave!)

Thanks K1ngarth3r!

It originally came out of the Odeon at Crewe. It was part of a 3D set (but sadly we only took the 1 - the other was probably scrapped) - I have around 180 films at the moment, including the Back to the Future trilogy, First Blood, Escape from New York, a few Bonds.

They stopped printing the majority of films in 2013 when cinema's changed to digital but I've managed to get a few of the last titles that made the cinema run, such as Gravity and Prisoners.

There's definitely something magical watching actual film rather than a 4K disc from Tesco - (even though the 4K disc is sharper and has Dolby Atmos sound!)

You can find them on eBay nowadays. Just search "35mm feature film". Unfortunately the films are more expensive than the projectors. Titanic cost me £2700 last year plus shipping from Australia!
