It was a great event. I loved it and so did my wife! I'll be reporting on it on the podcast on Sunday too.

The organisation was excellent. No annoying queues, no messing. Big Phil and his crew did a brilliant job, as did the event staff.

My one regret - not going both days.
My only niggle - it was a bit hot in there, but the cafe was lovely and cool, so gave me a excuse to go and grab a diet coke / Guinness with Rgp, U72 and Colin D

I'm going again next year, but may fly to Newcastle rather than the 8 hour drive

Yeah, that pic was taken before SF4 died

Three casualities in all from our stuff:
Naomi upright refused to boot anything except Typing of the Dead, which was fine except we didn't bring the keyboards
smiley36.gif

One of the Egret2's has developed a monitor chassis fault causing the screen to pulse/crackle.
SF4 hardware decided it needed to reboot every time you started a game. We were convinced it was a PSU problem, though Maplin selling us a dead PC PSU didn't help matters. I've done some fiddling around with it, and I'm 90% sure it's the video hardware, so a replacement card is on it's way, so with any luck it will be causing a bottleneck in the arcade section again next year

All in all, it was a great weekend, though I didn't get much of an opportunity to play games, except invade the Outrun hi score board

850 attended on Saturday. 50 short of the capacity.

480 there on Sunday.

I've had to change the dates for next year's event. Apart from there being a convention clash(which I'm really annoyed about as I contacted them 4 months ago to arrange dates) there is also a major horse racing meet and the hotel prices are sky high!

June 20th & 21st

Totally shattered yesterday, thanks to Big Phil, FatApollo, Deano76 and everyone else who helped out with the unloading/setup/reloading.

Nobody gets how difficult it can be to set up one of these, you have to build a floor plan that's inch perfect or your neighbouring exhibitor gets annoyed, you have to speak electrician or you won't have enough power and you have to find a way to get Ben76 to not take empty hall photos and pics of machines switched off that don't have power yet
smiley4.gif

Seriously though, Bens pics were great as you could actually see them in his pictures, in everyone else's they were swarmed just like at Blackpool.

Everything was mostly well behaved, we had one Goliath out back on Sunday in the naughty corner, handling had done something to the chassis, try as I might I coaxed it back from non-start to giving me white raster only but no game picture even though I know the board was running and I couldn't put a spare chassis on it because of the frame.

A tip for everyone make sure your cables going to your monitors and PCB's are well anchored down, our Killer Instinct cab has a Polo 28 in it and the power cable had sagged and pulled at the power input, it'll never happen again. We also had some adaptor harnesses come off in transit too which will get secured pretty quick.

Would it be fair to assume that the reason the Sunday attendance figures were a little lower was due to the fact that there were 3 major sporting events on that day (Wimbledon mens final, British F1 GP, Tour de France stage 2)?

Could well be. I should be avoiding all major events next year by having it on June 20th & 21st.
