Great, glad it turned up ok.
The games not filling the screen will be integer scaling as far as they can within the available width. You can set them to scale fractionally if you prefer or change the output resolution of the pi to suit. It's very hard to have one setting work perfectly for everything in MAME, there's just too many different things being emulated.

If you put evey rom into each emulator they will show up multiple times in the menu. There is a list of what runs nicely where but it's very incomplete:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1mgzWFz9rOsjDTKLy0lq_Mab9D1-NrojXRw1yf9GdWoY
with an rpi3 most stuff runs well in any of the emulators really.

Attract-Mode should be on the image already, you just need to run it in the file /boot/run.sh it should be there but commented out as it doesn't have automatic rom lists and advmenu does.

I'm testing an Attract-Mode focused release at the moment too, will be releasing it soon. The new image is set up to run 720x480i for A-M and Daphne and vertical and vector games and 720x240p for the majority of horizontal games. Tonight I tested my A-M rom list script with about 5200 games and all was well, although it took a while to run with so many games. The idea is when you're done adding games you let the script run at start up once and then turn it off so you have very fast booting after that.

Really, I'll have a look at that now, automatic rom lists dont bother me too much, I always use full sets and I've a nice list from my hyperspin setup I can use.

Cheers

New ARpiCADE 3.5 software now available. Attract-Mode is now the default frontend. Boots in 480i and switches to 240p as necesary automatically. Also now has MAME0171 for some fairly up to date MAME action. And I fixed screen tearing in advmame and daphne. And changed the scaling. And wrote a script to automatically create romlists for A-M. And I'm sure other things I've now forgotten too, many changes have been made.

Big thanks to Cathal for the re-uploading.

Also RaspberryJAMMA now has it's own dedicated section on the AussieArcade forum:
http://www.aussiearcade.com/forumdisplay.php/238-RaspberryJAMMA
For the time being I'm going to make into the place to find the latest info and downloads in the hope of making it easier for everyone, including me, to find bits and pieces. You shouldn't have to join the site to look at the threads in the RaspberryJAMMA section.

I'll still be checking and updating this thread if people would prefer to use it instead.

Frontend still looks a bit pokey imo. I changed a few files in the Retropie config and got that frontend to load. I even got the roms working for the Emulators like Amiga, C64 etc but I couldn't nail the resolution one the Emu started, the screen was a little squashed but the correct height. I tried all the many different resolutions but ideally I think it needs a custom res to work 100%

What program are you guys using to write this to an sd card? I've tried imageUSB and Win32diskimager and neither of them give me a working card!

yes, i unzipped it but it wasn't a .img file - it didnt have an extension. i tried adding .img as an extension, but still no joy.

Unzip the file with no extension, that will give you the image file. 7z added an extra step, not sure why, it should work if you unzip it though. Curiously that file that shows no extension on Windows shows an extension of .7z.uncompressed on Linux.

Thank you - that's done the trick!

Great software by the way! Looks really good on 15k monitors.

Couple of questions - Does anyone know how to stop it rebuilding the gamelist at every bootup?

And I'm struggling to remap the keys for the fba based emulators. I think I need to edit the retroarch.cfg file, but there are several of them and I haven't been able get it to change keys!

You can get the romlist script to stop running by editing /boot/run.sh .

To edit retroarch stuff the easiest way is to go into the retroarch menus by holding p1start and pressing 'f1' on a keyboard, if you don't have a p1 start you would need to edit the config to turn off the hotkey. All the used config files should be in /home/pi/.config/retroarch but they all seem to overrule each other in one way or another... retroarch is a bit of a pain to setup (maybe I'm doing it wrong...).
