Powered up , your a mad man ! Respect ! Lol. You need wonderboy in it play a proper game 😉

Dave.

Wasn't intentional i can assure you and i sure as hell don't recommend it haha it hurt and my pain tolerance is high.

You know i've never played Wonderboy on an arcade. SEGA Master System i believe i did back in the day but never arcade. Much difference between them? I'll give any game a spin. There's so many old games i've not played yet. I particularly like the early to mid 80's stuff.

OMG Never played wonderboy ! I may have to start ignoring you ! Lol

The arcade version is the best one IMO , if you can get a cheap bootleg as there is not masses of difference if any.

You need to get to arcade club at next meet , i do as well.

I went to Arcade Club years back with @aeroflott who was kind enough to take me with him. It was the one in Bury and the UKvAc meet up i think? (god im getting old i can't remember.) think it was around 2017? 2018?

It was amazing. A whole bunch of us had a photo taken outside Arcade Club so I've likely stood next to a lot of you guys and girls haha. I got totally lost in all the cabs I'd never seen before. They even had a dedicated Cosmic Avenger cabinet which was my first time ever playing the actual game outside of MAME. Was a great time for sure but i do regret loosing my head in all the cabs and not being far more social.

I'd happily go again my issue is i live life on the cheap when it comes to transport and I'm only on two wheels so getting there isn't really possible outside of a lift haha.

Not progress today other than a good polish (jesus was it dirty!!)

Main reason for no progress, enjoying it!! :D

I really, really like Juno First that game is so awesome.

I noticed on the neck board PCB there is adjustment for red, green and blue. After tinkering with red ever so slightly the screen colours are much more balanced now and red is not looking as if its bleeding especially in Donkey Kong on the girders and now its the right level of red. The screen is absolutely stunning on this machine I'm so, so happy with it. Pin sharp and great colours. :D has anyone heard from @muddymusic lately? I've not heard back about getting a marquee made up for it, I assume he still does art work?

I'm not that into shoot em up type games but I bought a Cocktail table years back which had Juno First original PCB in and that game is awesome, I did have a bid on Genuine Taitel Juno First cab but didn't win it, got a PCB still though

What do Juno First PCB's typically go for? Any plans to sell yours? :D

So today I'm looking at ways to extend a few wires which will stop me from flipping the monitor. One of them being the shock box, virtical/horizontal switch... I've had a look at it to see how i can delete this little b**tard and upon looking, yeah... it's clear now how it shocked me!

IMG_20250215_160326_247.jpg

The HV wire is right up against the metal case for the switch in two areas at least that i can see. This in turn runs all the way up to the metal screws where i felt like i got the shock from... Whoever made this... :/ so yeah, now looking at a way to safely remove this and just run bare wires. The image may end up being the wrong way around after but the monitor has to come out anyway and its a lot safer than this crap so yeah... it shall be done.

I did sell the original PCB I had and then wish I hadn't, then the same one was back on ebay a couple of years later as I had photo with Serial Number, they were selling because it had developed a fault, I forgot to bid but then managed to get another so I'm hanging on to this one, price I'd guess probably £150-200 these days, I paid £50 for the table years back with it in working

£50, god i wish! :D

I've bit the bullet, got the multimetre out and started taking it all apart. Neck board is off and all the other wires which need to come off are now off other than the LOPT cable... But most importantly that stupid box is gone! I cannot believe how badly it was soldered.

IMG_20250215_204141_312.jpg

I pulled on the one red wire (ironically the thickest cable of them all so i presume HV) and it just pulled off the solder blob. Scary stuff. Just want to know now how best to reattach these wires safely. I could use my soldering iron and some heatshrink but my heatshrink is only rated to 600v and this does more than that doesn't it? So do i need another safer way to do it?

Well I'm bailing out on this project I'm sorry to say.

A few reasons for this:
  1. The cab just isn't what i was expecting when i bought it. It's fine as it is but for me personally it's just not doing it for me.
  2. I'd much rather use my CRT TV and put the JAMMA to scart adaptor i have on it and use it with less foot print than an entire cab.
  3. It appears to have marked my mums floor from being moved back and forth so it needs that sorting and i just can't be bothered.
  4. The wires inside for the CRT need to be made longer so you can switch the screen around easier rather than it be a case of strip the entire cabinet down.
  5. I'm now (hopefully) moving into a small flat which has very limited foot print as it is and i have a lot of stuff to go in it as it is, no room for a cab.
  6. I can't seem to get in touch with someone to make my marquee and I'm getting impatient haha.
Not sure what i will do with it yet, keep it at where it is now (mums place) or sell it on. For now i've removed the Cosmic Avenger PCB, put the 60 in 1 back in it and moved the screen back to vertical so it at least serves a bit of purpose as a multicade. All i know is I've swiftly lost interest and there are better options for me out there in terms of playing Cosmic Avenger.
