Another massive job on my list of stuff to do ticked off
smiley11.gif
, looking at old photo's i must of had these original arcade carpet tiles for 10 years, quite a few bought them but not seen anyone else really show any photos of them down

It's bad enough 3 months ago I couldn't even get in the door of my building without moving stuff but getting somewhere at least, most were all stored in here so I had to tidy stuff up so I could get them out which were taking up much space, this job would of been easy with nothing in here but when its full of machines, monitors, boards, control panels etc I've had to move so much it's not funny, and if that ain't bad enough I've had to clean all of them before putting down, wait for them to dry with hardly any sun, now we get some when I've done it, on top of that get the Chewing Scum off loads of them, as well as sort out fag burns and glue, wood, concrete, paper, foam and other stuff off the back of some stuck to the glue

Then had to put my tent up again so I could pull out 4 cabs and loads of stuff in case it rains so I can move the others about, it's like those puzzles with 1 square missing. move tons off the machines before moving them and then try to do a quarter at a time, normally you work from middle so the edge ones are cut down equal but when you can't see most of the floor that don't work, also being 3ft square it's hard to see where they will end up so decided to clear corner where both doors are, lay some out to see where they will end up, started with side single door and worked over to double doors, worked out well, in middle of door way it i was hoping to start a complete one and without having to cut them along the left wall, the double door 1st side had to be trimmed a little into door way, which left the right side again full and right up to skirting board, just had to make sure I got the first few perfect else it starts going off at slight angle, so had to move 2nd one again, glued the first 3 down and the rest I didn't bother as they are quite heavy and once down they don't move

They cleaned up well considering the state of them but it's took me about a month total with all the clearing stuff and cleaning but really happy with it, plus I moved a few things about and can now get to some machines to work on them in years

Nice one Chris. Love those tiles!

Glad to see you're really cracking on now. Awesome to see some of your cabs with actual floorspace around them so they can get played.

nice selection of games there. I haven’t been in one of those sit down chase hq cabs for about 30 years. Great to see that particular machine.

Looking good. A fair few wee cabs in there.

Some of those arcade style tiles glow when hit with black lights and look really nice. Do you know if these do that?

Cheers Everyone, this was always my vision and I did have it all sorted years back untill I kept buying more stuff and this building just got machines put in there till it's full, then plan was a lot will come back out to go in house when thats done, but you don't realise how many you have and it's not all going to fit in, still got work to do to sort it but progress at least

I was wondering when taking up old carpet why part of floor was painted red, then remembered it was from when I had the corner where side door was seperate to use as storage for monitors, control panels etc. had Change machine set in the wall and neon sign above, was really looking nice but then had to remove the wall and have shed built for it all as I'd filled this building too

When we built this, it was supposed to be my Workshop to restore the cabs and fix them as I wanted all the machines in the house extension, i wasn't sure on the size limit if it was inside floor or outside so built it to outside of 30m2, with so many machines coming up for sale i'd never planned for, either didn't expect to see them or ones like rail chase i'd never heard of, it soon went from workshop with 2 or 3 extra cabs to a seperate games room, now I wish it was much bigger, Ideally I could do with fitting in 20 uprights and 6 big sitdown cabs in middle but reality is 13 uprights, 6 along one wall, 7 the other with no door, 2 big cabs each side and thats about it. keep thinking about extending it but it's just so much work and things aren't so easy at nearly 50, just wish i'd planned ahead and build it at least to inside of 30m2 but thats not big enough, need it 40m2 really

If sun was other side of the garden i would probably look at carrying on the house side extension all way down and join them both up. I've already had the driveway turned into extension 2 on house so I can fit them all in but still struggling

There not UV Carpet, that would really be the best Infurious, but I'm more than happy to have genuine carpet from an arcade, it was for sale on ebay 2011? some where around that, from the old Sega World in Southampton/Bournemouth when it was changed to leisure Exchange, I want to try and work out how long this had been down in Leisure ExchangeIts cleaned up really well, guy said they were £40 each new, can imagine it will outlast methough if it's still this good after being in arcade, best quality carpet I'll ever own, my grandparents carpet still in the lounge here is supposed to be axminster and been down since late 60's so gotta be same quality, thick foam back on it so it's like carpet and underlay in one

Not me selling big10p as I'm not on facebook or any of them, loads bought it though on here or J+ could be someone that bought some and selling it

trouble is now, I don't wanna put all the junk on it like it was before and ruin it

thing I like about tiles is you can easily do it yourself, it has waterproof barrier so no issue if liquid spilt. take them up if you need to clean one, going up to walls, only need measure it, straight edge and stanley knife, job done

here is one old photo of it with wall there

Those carpet tiles work great with the blue walls

I know you've said you've cleaned them but those wet vac contractors you can get in would clean them up as good as they can get and give them a whole new lease of life - trouble is you would need to move cabs to clean the whole area in one visit

Great size space you have there with some great cabs - lucky man!

2 things that should be removed from this planet are Chewing Gum and Fags, ruined so many machines and carpets

40m2, then 50m2, then 60m2, where does it stop :)

I know, that's the problem, this was big enough when built for everything I wanted, If I had more space I'd have more Sega Deluxe, just to not sell anything now though I'd be happy with

Kept thinking should I buy something like Rug Doctor machine to clean them, can hire them from Coop but still have to buy the liquid, but because of all the chewy and fag burns, need to clean that off first ideally, so it's long process, so I just went the cheap way, some scrubbing brushes, carpet cleaner 5l tub that you water down and some hard work lol, then use the jet washer to blast all the soap and crap out, professional carpet cleaner people would probably be crying but it's done the job and cost me less than £30

Wow that is impressive how well they are coming up. I love these arcade carpets and to know it's been in a real arcade too... just awesome. Looks like some tough properly made stuff.

It's great to see a snippet of your arcade, its going to look fantastic when it's done.

Do you have an ETA when you think the room will be done and useable or will you need to have another extension?
