as it's getting cold now and i'm feeling a bit better it's time to start on the next part.

mike "cosine" is willing to help build a suitable p.c. for the cab.

what sort of spec am i after for the p.c. ???

it looks like i will need to widen the cab by about 1 1/2 " either that or the monitor will need to over lap the pinball body i.e sit on the top of the cab. i might also shorten the length of the cab by about 6" or so.

i just need to clear out some of the crap in the garage then i will start chopping the shell

Well from what I can tell your looking at *minimum* Core2Duo, preference is Core2Quad / i3
4 GB RAM *minimum*, 8gb would be better
512MB GFX card *minimum*, but 1GB GFX card (They mentioned better than a NVIDIA 9800)

John I would sign up to a few Visual pinball/Pinmame/Hyperspin forums and check that the above is accurate.

You don't want to spend money on something you are not going to be happy with.

The site I read this from wasn't particularly specific, and the above is reading between the lines a little.

I also suspect that there are *some* tables that will put the PC under serious pressure so you want the best for playability

I think an i3 with 8gb, and a decent 1 GB GFX card will run most things though :)

this is the first build just to try things out. i'm sure that the spec above should be fine

i'm just waiting to see what it will cost to build it. hopefully it is within budget, if not it will go on hold until said dosh becomes available

he is using the basic spec that you linked, but says it works fine with no probs. we are discussing it on facebook. mike "cosine" is checking out the software too and will help me with buying/building the pc. if i can shift some stuff out of the garage i will start on the shell by widening it by out an inch and a half to accomodate the telly

i might yet be playing on this for my birthday

don't buy me anything too expensive

Decided to have a go at this myself, figured out I would sort out all the hardware/software before the woodwork, while I have sorted most things does anyone happen to have all the needed artwork/backglass/xml's/working tables etc they fancy sharing?

Well I almost have Future pinball sussed, just need to figure out dmd movement/deletion, you need to make a short cut with added command line to the exe for pincab mode and then use the print screen key in game to adjust the tables.

Does future pin work with an LED wiz tho?

No but yes.

From what I can work out (in a day slogging around the internet) you have to join several pinball sites to acquire stuff, the author of FP (though I think that has changed hands) got a bit pissed off/mardy at one point with modders, so the version you download from the website hasn't been updated for quite some time and has a rather large watermark when playing on tables, there is however the 'hacked' version which normally goes by the name of Physics mod, which as well as improving those removes the watermark and adds a lot of new features, one of them being LED wiz.

Annoyingly that version currently craps out halfway though loading tables for me atm

Yeah software is a ballache, that's why I went with getting it working before spending on anything else, just done an install of XP and FP won't even launch on it atm.....
