Did the F355 manage to get fully working?

Sadly not chief, it left BristolMartin fully working & by the time it arrived at the show it wasn't working at all, as Alpha1 said that is a lot off journey time for things to go wrong, from Bristol to Rotherham, left there for a few weeks & then over to Manchester, we all know just how temprimental cabs can be, thankfully Luke Wells got 2 screens working, disconnected the left one, there is a probem with the screens constantly degauzing & one of the naomi boards needs replacing, not the end of the world, I would have been really worried if it was completely dead
smiley1.gif

Well, at least I've now seen it & it's put my mind at rest, I will have trouble squeezing it into where I want it to go
smiley36.gif
What was up with the shifter mate? It seemed seized to me, which was a shame, I like to play proper manual on F355

Oh no, not something else, tbh I never played it at the show & when Martin brought it back yesterday I started stripping her down straight away so still haven't played it.

I had to totally strip down the seating part yesterday & I removed the gear shifter section, I did notice it was locked but thought it may not engage properly without the game running & clutch pressed, looks like it's another thing that may need a bit of attention, hopefully nothing too major, I'll try the wd40 first

Ahh, hadn't played it for years, so maybe it is locked unless you actually select to use clutch/shifter. Makes sense to stop people knocking it about when it's not in use.

Well it was a great weekend. Shame some people have to ruin it.....

https://www.facebook.com/RetroGamerUK/posts/542914415778208

Now, a lot of us know how much work goes into event set up and maintenance throughout the weekend. Whether its Play, Revival, Nerg, etc what would you think if you read comments like that. Yes it has annoyed me and yes I have been posting my views
smiley9.gif
I think its very wrong for a publication to post one mans views. One man who has probably never owned an arcade machine let alone try to keep one running.

Anyway Play Expo was ace

onto the next event

where we all going? (If I can make it!)

- Ben

Fortunately, I have no time for Retro Gamer these days so their comments have been duly ignored as irrelevant. You can see from the pics (and the comments) that this was an impressive display and perhaps Retro Gamer (as the main Magazine for CHAMPIONING old gaming) should have been involved a bit more other than just as a paying (and grumpy) customer.....

When I had my go I tried moving the shifter just to get the 'feel' of it (gently, I'm even more considerate to other peoples hardware than I am to my own..), and I'm pretty sure it it wouldn't move until the game had started and the clutch was depressed, with the game not running it wouldn't move even with the clutch down (I'm assuming there's a solenoid or something that controls wether the shifter can move based on if the clutch is down/in, and it's probably not powered up until a game is running?)
I was playing in Sim mode, don't know if it enables it in the others or not.

So hopefully it's just that

Looks like we are ok on the gear shifter front, I sent a pm to Bods who has been helping me with the f355 & he has confirmed that it actually should be stuck in place, something along the lines as I had hoped, clutch has to be depressed to allow gear shifter to move, I suppose there is a few extra bits of mechanical gubbins on f355 as I notice my daytonna gear shifter moves all the time

I'm really pleased that Scratchmasterdal's video has gone down so well, I've tried to get him to join here a few times over the months to fuel his arcade gaming love, he has 3 candy cabs & I know he would love to buy border down & iirc zero gunner 2 for the naomi, I've told him one may pop up here for sale at a good price but I reckon he's scared of overspending on other things he never knew he wanted

Never even thought of shifting from 4th to 2nd (or 1st), but it really chucks the back end out. I still need to call at some point, enjoying playing the cab way too much.
