Thanks Tony - I presume that picture is from the Red Baron cabaret manual so that proves at least Atari were planning to make a cabaret version which would be the identical size to the Battlezone cabaret.

I wonder what stopped them making this then as no one has ever seen one?

Very strange...

Cheers

Hi All - please see the attached response from Todd at TNT in the US. He owns nearly every cabaret produced and I think he would know if one existed:

Hi....Although there IS a manual, no one has ever seen one anywhere...and we think they cancelled plans to make them when the game was not a hit. The cabinet would have been the same one used for Food Fight Ireland cabinet

Subject: Red Baron cabaret by Atari - does this exist ???

    Hi Todd,

I hope you are well. I am a big UK Atari fan and I own a number of cabarets including; Tempest, Asteroids and Centipede. From your experience did Atari ever produce a Red Baron cabaret and have you ever seen one. I believe the production numbers below are correct for the upright and sitdown versions. I have seen a picture of a cabaret manual for Red Baron on the internet and the below copy from a manual certainly hints that Atari may have produced it, what is your experienced view please Todd ?

    Cabinet Types
    » Red Baron Upright - June 1981 - Production: 1,500 units - price $1,995 - measures/weight?
    » Red Baron Sitdown (Cockpit) - May 1981 - Production: 504 units - price $2,795 - measures/weight?

I am a big UK fan of your Youtube "restoration videos" so please keep it up.

    Regards

Funny as I'm the "tony j" mentioned above. Clay C would be Clay Cowgill (of course). I vaguely recall Chris having the Red Baron proto but I didn't know that Clay bought it.. Chris also had the Battlezone cocktail prototype that he got when an ex-atari employee posted it FS on RGVAC. Chris had a great collection but sold it all in the early 2000s.

Thanks for the update, so does Clay Cowgill still own the Red Baron prototype and if so does anyone have any pictures and is Clay still active in the gaming scene?

Cheers

Re-read the article. "Francis purchased this game from Clay C". So clearly Clay doesn't still own it. Yes he's still active.
