Super glad everyone enjoyed this year’s event. Was awesome to finally get in a talk with top arcade gamers this time and the arcade tournament went down really well, with around 50 participants taking part in all and some of our top gamers here showing off some impressive techniques. Big thanks to Shaun Holley for helping with things both ends from Arcade Club, his podcast wife Vic for contributing cabs and helping with the arcade legends talk, thanks of course to Jon, Tony and Dave for taking part in that and to Jon for the awesome prize for the tournament, Andy Palmer for supplying, Rog, Al, Mike, Chappers, Mart, Dave, Rich and Shaun for cab support and helping keep everything running the whole weekend with an impressive line up of machines to enjoy yet again.
There’s an absolute ton of videos on YouTube and loads of albums shared on Facebook reporting this as the best one yet and the vibe was unbeatable yet again. Considering early estimates and some date clashing had numbers down on last year, we ended up a few hundred up both days to be the busiest yet, but careful planning made everything run super slick from start to finish.
Rumours were true and it’s unlikely we will be doing a large scale event next year as I need to take some time out for personal reasons and can’t make time for the planning involved in a big weekend, but the good news is that we are coming back several times next year with some smaller local events bigger than our usual mini, but with something awesome for membership card holders and not clashing in a massively over-saturated calendar.
