Benson - you need to announce yourself! Was it your little girl who kept playing the space fever with another little lad?

Smarty - did you see my 12k on the frogger?

No, no kids with me! It was me and Mike_dee who were playing it when you unplugged it to take it home to put on a van.

Went down to the event on Saturday afternoon, and it was certainly a loud and bustling meet!

Really nice to see some familiar faces and meet some new ones.

Chuckie Egg whooped my ass on Asteroids
smiley36.gif
, RGP was spotted actually playing some games and drinking beer (I should have taken photographic evidence)
smiley20.gif
, u72 who I believe doesn't own too many arcade machines
smiley2.gif
started his collection by winning the raffle and snaffling the Asteroids cabaret (bast! Well done, mate), Alpha1 was just super smashing great
smiley10.gif
- cheers, fella!

Finally got to meet (albeit too briefly) Rav and Virtvic, and had a great chat with Chappy about kids, arcade machines and the meaning of life.

^Arcade legends, all of em!

Great selection of cabs and consoles to play. I really enjoyed trying out that Vectrex multi-cart and spent a good while reliving my 'yoof' on the Atari 2600. Arcade-wise, some of the cabs were very popular, especially Super Off Road and the awesome (can't believe I'm saying this) Fix-it Felix cab. Whoever made that has done a stellar job (just needs a scanline generator).

Lovely Zac cabs!

Fuzzy Junior enjoyed the consoles and there were loads of other kids there, which was great.

Add to that some lager shandy (I was driving, OK!) and some great live (and LOUD) live music, and it was a great afternoon/night!

Well done to all involved.

Been back about an hour I guess. As always, a great weekend and it looks like I've missed a bunch of people from here. Again, as always! Great to meet those that I did, and apologies to those I missed.

Still feeling rough as fook. So signing off for now

Oh, PS: Regarding the comment about the number of working machines. I'd just like to point out that after an initial hiccup, the only machine supplied by UKVAC worked flawlessly all weekend

(And considering it's a 34 year old Vector game, that's not at all bad going!!!)

I left around half two today, were you there then? I didn't see you there. There was no hiscore save on the board if you were talking about a score from Saturday.

I must also confess. Milky broke the Offroad cab
smiley36.gif
Well it needed power cycling after he touched the yellow controls! the game went a bit mental then froze. I was mid way through a game on Galaga and the fire button stopped working, I spoke to the guys in the 'staff' t-shirts and they sorted it. I think the fire button microswitch jumped out of it holder.

I categorically deny any and all allegations. I just pressed Turbo and all hell broke loose on the name entry screen.

Good idea! I most likely walked past all of you but, I did get to meet IDCHAPPY
smiley1.gif

I was super impressed with the Crazy Kong cocktail cab...the coin reject button was hooked up to give free credits, how does one create such wizardry? I would be really interested to find out... if anyone would be kind enough to explain?

Glad you all had a good weekend. Me - I was shattered Friday / Saturday night after 2 days in Aberdeen on a training course and really did not feel up to the planes, trains and automobiles to get there.

Hopefully I will make it to the main event nexxt year.

@Iain - we were having a bit of a Starforce compo on the Saturday evening over in the corner on the Mame cocktail. Superb, superb game - however the control panel / joystick on the P2 side was a bit shagged so it was a bit of a biased affair. You were a bit worse for wear by then though so I guess you didn't spot it. I think you were busy abusing your elephant or something
smiley36.gif

@Vic, in the admin section we discussed the thought of name tags, etc. but it was dismissed. Afraid that's my fault as I hate the idea
smiley5.gif
We were going to get lanyard ID's made up for the admin team so forum members could see who we were and introduce themselves if they wanted to and I even checked with Chris to ensure it wouldn't be in conflict with the event organisers but at the end of the day time got the better of me.

I like the idea of footy type named shirts. Even though I despise the game and anything to do with it.

Actually, that was a gripe of mine I could have gone and found the Sky box and ripped the damn thing out by the end of the weekend, having been subjected to football on the big screen ALL weekend, quite loudly most of the time, and the pair of old gits in the corner who moaned if you got in the way of their viewing were frankly just plain rude (a few of the locals were - NOT anyone related to staffing i hasten to add) That would be my one and only (and it's minor) gripe of the whole weekend. A few of the locals were just plain rude and didn't get into the spirit of it at all.
